Morning Campers how are you all doing today as we enter week 6 of lockdown ?? I think its week 6 anyway – who knows ?
[ I’ve just been advised it’s actually week 7! Bloody hell how time flies when you … don’t do much ! ]
Is anybody else losing track of the days, or is it just me? Days are blending into days and weeks into weeks ; it’s like one big old round of Ground Hog Day!
I have to admit I’ve not struggled too much with the lockdown, in a weird way I’ve actually enjoyed some parts of it. Tik Tok. Reading actual books . Afternoon Gin in the garden followed by decadent baths. Binge watching ‘Gangs of London’ and the beautiful ‘Normal People’. Friday Night Zoom quizzes with my friends. However as the weather has taken a turn for the worse and I’ve found myself confined indoors I have found myself feeling a little like spider man … and crawling walls !
I don’t receive [or accept] a lot of PR / gifts BUT I can tell you the bits I have received over the past few weeks have definitely brightened up my days, given me something new to play with or wear. Kept me occupied.
Today I thought I would share some of the ‘bits and pieces’ I have enjoyed with you:
I L U M A Intense Brightening Exfoliating Powder | Image Skincare * PR
£43.00 for 43g
Is a water-activated, micro-exfoliating cleansing powder that gently polishes and buffs away dead skin cells to brighten and illuminate the skin. It’s gentle, the grains are extremely fine so it’s not scratchy and doesn’t pull on the skin
It is perfect for daily use and ideal for all skin types ; even temperamental ones like mine. I did have a tiny breakout on my chin when I first started using it but this has since cleared up.
I tend to cleanse my skin and then follow with this on an evening only . It makes my already clean skin feel super clean [ especially after a day sunbathing /wearing SPF ] and ready for my choice of serum . Oh and did I mention it smells delicious
It is a grand product; however I’m not 100% sure I would repurchase it as it’s slightly more expensive than I would normally pay for an exfoliant. Lock down life got me tightening my purse strings …
H E R S T O R Y | Avon Cosmetics *PR
£11.00 for 50ml [currently on offer – £8.00]
I had no idea I was in line to receive this, so when Avon Cosmetics sent me their new fragrance Herstory EDP I was like a giddy kipper. I do love a surprise !
Herstory is a scent created in celebration of women all over the globe. I like the sound of that !
To support the launch , Avon has partnered with five powerful and inspiring women with visible differences who feature in the Herstory beauty campaign.
Avon will be donating 50% of Herstory sales to Changing Faces which will go towards funding the charity’s support and information line which offers advice for people with a visible difference.
Ingredients include |
Passion for the pink pepper
In the top notes the Bourbon Pepper represents a women’s energy and stamina to fight for her dreams.
Courage for the Iris
At the heart of Herstory is the noble Iris flower – the emblem of fine fragrance and symbolising wisdom, courage and feminine confidence.
Personality for Patchouli
Patchouli Prisma reveals elegant and powerful wood tones. It encourages a woman to write her own story.
I guess when people mention Avon and perfume in the same sentence they have a tendency to associate it with their mum or nana – assume it may smell a-little old fashioned … but honestly it’s non of these things .
Herstory is a light, slightly woody scent. It smells lovely and would make an ideal everyday perfume. [I personally prefer something a little ‘stronger’ for an evening] Its also for a good cause which is always a great excuse to treat yourself, or somebody else.
£5.00 – £12.00 various packages available
I’m not always consistent but I do try and do my bit for the planet.
When Wild approached me to see whether I would like to try one of their new sustainable deodorants I jumped at the chance. Aluminium , sulphate and paraben free with combustible, plastic free refills which are delivered directly to your door!
The case is a one off purchase and is meant to last. The cases come in a variety of colours. The concept is that you refill it with a new deodorant stick as and when required. These are posted out to you and conveniently they fit through your letterbox.
There is a choice of fragrance – Bergamot Rituals , Rose Blush, Mint Fresh, Orange Zest and Coconut Dreams.
I’m really pleased with this product. It works, is long-lasting and keeps me smelling sweet as a daisy PLUS I’m doing my bit for the environment. Bonus.

W O O L O V E R S | Embroidered Blue and White Panel Blouse £45.00
I adore this top . It feels like sunshine and reminds me of Greek islands. When I put it on it instantly makes me feel happy. I imagine I’m walking bare foot on a beach somewhere fabulous. Don’t you love it when an item of clothing transports you somewhere ; makes you feel that way ?
It is from WoolOvers who I have worked with a couple of times in the past. If you haven’t heard of them before – they are definitely worth checking out. Great quality and reasonable prices.
The top is 100% viscose, machine washable and available in sizes 8 to 18. I’m wearing a size 14 and it is true to size.
Isn’t the colour beautiful ?
Oh and you may have noticed my rainbow. Do you like her? It is something my boyfriend and I painted on our boring white wall .
It was a beautiful afternoon , we were feeling creative and wanted to show our support for the NHS. It also makes a grand backdrop for my photos. Luckily we had these paint colours in storage ! As a very white and grey house-hold I’m really not sure what we’ve painted in the past !
Our next door neighbour, Chris, told me the other day that it brightens his morning. Every time he opens his curtains he is welcomed by our colourful, rainbow wall and it makes him smile. Job done .
So that’s a quick round-up of some things I’ve received this month , a proper mixed bag ! Did anything take your fancy?
Until next time, stay safe….
