B E A U T Y | first impressions – Antipodes Skincare

A few years ago I stumbled upon the brand Antipodes. I can’t remember which but if I recall rightly I had just read a blog post or watched a vlog by Megan from ‘Wonderful You‘

She was running through her daily skincare routine which included the ‘Juliet Brightening Cleanser’ . I immediately searched online and purchased it ; I mean she had amazing skin! What was there to lose? A lot actually . I’ve found in the past what works for somebody else might not necessarily work for you and it’s a total waste of money. [That’s why I wish more brands did sample sizes] BUT on this occasion we happened to love each other … and so my love affair with Juliet began.

I adore this cleanser and the brands ethos ; they are cruelty free, organic and vegan approved. I have made several purchases of the cleanser since. I am lucky in that I am in the position where brands send me products to try but I always seem to steer back to this cleanser.

Fast forward to a few days ago and the delivery of a care parcel from Antipodes.

Mucho excitement on my part !

I was kindly gifted:

  • Baptise H20 Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel
  • Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream
  • Moisture Boost Natural Lipstick in Forest Berry Red & Queenstown Hot Chocolate

Obviously a few days is not long enough to test a skincare product and to see its full potential but as I have in the past I thought I would give you my initial thoughts which is something I like to do . I will update my thoughts in a few weeks.

While it’s amazing brands gift me products and I’m always extremely grateful , I will not rave about something if it doesn’t deserve to be raved about.

So first off –

Baptise H20 Ultra Hydrating Water Gel – 60ml – 29.95 NEW PRODUCT

I’ll start with a negative in so far as I don’t like the smell of the moisturiser. I love roses but hate any product that smells of them. Thankfully as you rub it into your skin the scent disperses quickly making it something I can just about live with.

It states ‘the scent of fresh rose uplifts your senses‘ , in my case it makes me want to barf . It reminds me of the perfume I used to make when I was a young girl . I’d crush rose petals in water and leave it to fester in a jam jar for a few day’s before subjecting my mum to it . Nice memories, bloody awful smell … but like I said I can live with it.

The gel ,as you would expect being a gel, is of the lightest consistency which I love. Heavy creams tend to sit on my skin and lead to congestion. This sinks in beautifully leaving a fairly mat base but one that feels incredibly hydrated.

Key ingredients

  • New Zealand Manuka Honey
  • Plant based hyaluronic acid
  • Mamaku black fern
  • Hibiscus flower

Vegan approved

Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream – 30ml – £45.95

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my eye creams. I cannot bear any tightness around my eyes and I’m obsessed with keeping pesky fine lines at bay .

I started using eye cream when I was about 14 – I’m now 49 … that’s a long time ! My mum was an Avon lady and I would delve into her stash of samples. It’s one of my desert island / skincare must haves .

I have been using this eye cream religiously am & pm or as they so eloquently put ‘sunrise and sunset‘ for the past few days and so far , so good.

It feels extremely light, sinks in beautifully leaving no greasy residue on top of the skin making it ideal for application of makeup afterwards and no pilling !

Key ingredients

  • New Zealand kiwi fruit oil
  • Vitamin C
  • Vinanza grape & Kiwi fruit skin to brightens day lighten the under eye area.
  • Pure 23k gold flakes

It is fragrance free, suits all skin types and is vegan approved

Moisture Boost Natural Lipstick – from £17.99 | 12 shades available

As you know , or maybe if you are new around here you don’t. I shouldn’t assume. I love my lipsticks and have a pretty big collection.

I received ‘Forest Berry Red’wild and warm based true red with all the succulence if the forests bright berries on which New Zealand’s songbirds feast

Queenstown Hot Chocolate‘- a decadent brown that’s strictly for thrill seekers – a shade hewn straight from the Rocky outcrops of New Zealand’s extreme adventure region . We dare you !

The red is beautiful and vibrant. I’m not so keen on the brown [ for me ] but only because I don’t think the colour suits me as much . It dulls rather then brightens my complexion BUT I will try it with a smoky eye because I like a nude lip when I go for that ‘look’

Both lipsticks are drier on application than I anticipated but are packed with natural ingredients and are long wearing. They state ‘I’m so healthy you could almost eat me‘ key word almost … I wouldn’t try that at home folks!

I’ve worn the red a couple of times already. I love a bright lip on a sunny day when you maybe don’t have much else on your face [ apart from your SPF! ALWAYS ]

Key Ingredients

  • Evening Primrose Oil
  • Avocado Oil
  • Calendula Oil
  • Argan Oil

Fragrance Free & Vegan approved

So there you have it my initial thoughts on the products received.

As stated I will be back to let you have my further thoughts after a few more weeks usage but as first impressions go mine are very good.

Have you used Antipodes Skincare before and if so what are your favourites products , as always I would love to know in the comments below ?

Hope you are all bearing up well and enjoying the latest blast of glorious weather.

Until next time,
