B E A U T Y | autumn feels

I adore Autumn; the start of a new season. A chance for new beginnings and opportunities.

It is a little step closer to Christmas. For the first time since we lost Mum [over 2 years ago] I am actually looking forward to Christmas this year.

Nights spent at home are longer, darker and cosy ; ambience created by my numerous candles scattered around the Lounge.

I look forward to soaking in luxurious bubble baths before smothering myself in rich body lotions. To climbing into my fleecey pjyamas and fluffy bed socks.

I’ll no doubt find myself engrossed in some serious drama on Netflix , channel 5 Christmas Movie channel or a good book … accompanied by a large glass of Baileys.

Always Baileys .

As it comes, over ice, or in coffee. Either way I’m not fussy.

Nature like a chameleon changes from greens to beautiful shades of burnt oranges and red. Nights draw in and the temperature plummets. Its woolly scarf and hat weather ; my favourite.

My makeup tends to follow suit. My pink lip is swapped for a deep red and my eyes go heavier and warmer.

BEAUTY | Eye of the Day – an introduction

“Makeup is about balance. When the eye makes a statement, the lips should be quiet” – Francois Nars

I started ‘Eye of the Day ‘ as a bit of fun over on Instagram stories – I guess I was taking the mickey out of myself. Something I’m pretty good at – I am no slick You Tube presenter! I get questioned about my eye makeup more than anything else ; I’m often asked if I’ll do a You Tube video showing how I do certain looks?! Could you imagine – car crash bloody TV. Insta-stories is quick … and fairly easy. The best thing is it only lasts 24 hours too [ unless you highlight it, that is ]

I start by cheerily singing …’Tracey’s eye of the dayyyy!’ then proceed to chat about the days eye makeup in 15 second segments which is short enough for me to not get tongue-tied!

Oh and despite it being Tracey’s eye of the day, it doesn’t actually happen every day. You know sometimes real life gets in the way , or I don’t particularly like what I’ve done with my eyes that day… I’m running late, or I simply can’t be arsed . It’s very much up in the air – a work in progress

Beauty | What’s in your makeup bag?

When Joanne from Opposable Thumbs recently did a blog post on what’s in her makeup bag she tagged a few of her fellow bloggers to join in. Of course I jumped at the the chance; nosy by name, nosy by nature. It’s something that fascinates me. What do ‘real’ people actually put on their faces?

How about you?

Do you want to see what’s in my makeup bag ?

Yes … great stuff please walk this way.

No … you have my permission to leave now

First up I just need to clarify I have loads of makeup in boxes scattered all around the bedroom. Tonnes of the bloody stuff. Drives the BF crazy.

I’ve not featured any eyeshadow palettes ; I apply eye shadow in the morning and leave the sets behind on my dressing room table. You can read all about my eye-makeup routine // HERE

I don’t wear foundation so there’s non of that featured either.

This is the [rather mucky …in need of a wash ] makeup bag I won. Yay go me. This is the one I carry around with me on a daily basis. This is the makeup I tend to wear most days; I use for touch ups when I’m out etc.

All these products have been bought by myself.

Beauty | First Impressions – Trinny London

Hello, hello, hello little people in my cyber space.

I’ve decided that this year along with the usual regulars like  ‘Ladies that Lunch’ I’m going to do a series called ‘First Impressions‘ which basically like the title suggests will be my first impressions of a product, person or a place.

Today’s, and my very first products are from Trinny London who I have been watching with interest from afar.

Firstly if you don’t follow Trinny on Instagram you are really missing a trick. Her quick fashion and beauty videos combined with her BIG personality are both informative and fun.

So a few months ago Trinny launched her capsule makeup collection. It’s basically all about ‘the stack’. A collection of products in 4g pots that snap together making it easy to carry around , especially when you are travelling.

You go online, undertake a colour match #Match2Me [ eye colour, skin tone etc] and then you are redirected to all the products in the shades that compliment you.

The full range includes:

BFF Cream, foundation , highlighter , contour, bronzer , mattifying balm, lip2cheek, blusher, lip gloss , lip colour and eyeshadow.

There is no face powder , eyebrow / eye pencils or mascara within the collection, so you would still need to purchase and carry these around with you.

I ordered the :

  • The Right Light – Starlight [Illuminator] – £25.00 4g pot
  • Lip Glow in Maddie – £16.00 4g pot

Beauty | My favourite make up discovery of 2017 is . . .

I’d like to think that amongst all the products I tested last year there were a few stand out favourites. Products I would repurchase again and again.

I am lucky that as a fairly established blogger I get sent a lot of ‘goodies’ from brands / PR companies keen for me to review their goods. However being the skincare / make-up junkie I am I also tend to purchase A LOT myself .

I like to mess what can I say? Nothing excites me more than getting my mitts on a  product by a brand I’ve not encountered before.

My favourite discovery of 2017 is one I bought myself and only chanced upon at the beginning of December. It was a recommendation by the skin care guru Nadine Baggot . Not personally of course, on one of her You Tube videos.

Stretch Concealer by Glossier- £15.00 plus postage
