G R E E N B A R N • a night away

Nestled away in the hills , in the hamlet of Onesacre , you will find Green Barn.

Situated in a peaceful & quiet location slightly off the beaten track looking out towards the glorious countryside [ or as we like to call it around here – Gods country] but with the amenities of Oughtibridge village just a stones throw away. It makes the perfect location to get away from it all , yet be close enough to ‘life’ should you want to venture back into it.

Oughtibridge village would take you 15/20 minutes to walk down into, or just a 2 minute drive in your car. You will find the village shop, Joni’s coffee shop [ great cakes] , a number of pubs [ some that serve food] , a Chinese takeaway , the local park complete with a kids play area & Beeley Woods with it’s pleasant river side walk. See if you can spot Dennis the resident Heron.

When I was asked if I would like to stay the night I didn’t have to think twice; despite only living 5 minutes away ! It had me at hot tub.

In a word Green Barn is beautiful .

Downstairs is open plan with a fully equipped kitchen and the addition of a utility room & shower / toilet. There’s free Wi-Fi, a massive 78” TV which is great to play all your favourite tunes on, maybe have a dance – there’s enough room . Or if you prefer settle down on the large settee and chill with a glass of wine while watching your favourite films.

I bored my friends playing Miley Cyrus tunes and bleating on about how good her legs are ! Whatever floats your boat I guess.

Upstairs has 3 good size bedrooms, one en-suite , that sleeps 6 & also THE bathroom of my dreams . I mean look at her. Delicious.

Outside there’s a large courtyard with enough parking spaces for a couple of cars and a secure bike storage . A lawned area and a hot tub facing out across those glorious views.

My friends and I ventured into the hot tub at about 8pm [ we are brave us NorthernersOR stupid ] it was freezing , raining, blowing a gale and we couldn’t see much, BUT it was a giggle & very exhilarating! The fizz helped us through it.

In a nutshell Green Barn would make the perfect base for cyclists , walkers , or just for a party of friends / family that wanted some time away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

You will not be short of places to explore. Damflask, Agden and Moorhall Reservoirs are all only a 10 minute drive away where you will experience some AMAZING walks. Agden especially is worth a visit. You can read about a couple of other local walks HERE

A little further afield is Chatsworth House – my spiritual home. A definite must see.

Just a couple of other things to note –

• It is a No Smoking premises.

• 1 well behaved dog is permitted.

• Check in is 3.00pm and check out is 10.00am.

If you are are ever in need of somewhere to stay in Sheffield / Peak District, I can highly recommend.
