Lunch with Marco Pierre White …

Sometimes I have to pinch myself at some of the opportunities I’ve been given this year via my little blog.

I’ve appeared on local radio, attended some fabulous launches, had a makeover by one of Charlotte Tilburys top MUA and now I’ve got another goodie, and a first, to add to the list.

Can you imagine my surprise and delight when I received an email earlier in the week asking whether I would like to attend the new menu launch at Marcos New York Italian Restaurant in Sheffield and  wait for it … to meet Marco Pierre White in person.

I didn’t have to think about it for long!

So that’s where I tootled off too yesterday afternoon. I almost cancelled at the last-minute due to mums health taking a turn for the worse but even on her hospital sickbed she insisted that I didn’t cancel , that she’d be ‘ever so mad’ if I didn’t attend.

So not to disappoint her … and because I was really looking forward to it off I popped with my ‘ladies that lunch’ partner Sue as my plus one.

Wagamama Summer tasting…

My favourite type of invite normally involves food and drink, so when Wagamama in Meadowhall got in touch to see whether I’d like to give their new summer menu a whirl … I was like the cat that got the cream.

It also happens to be one of the Mr’s favourite eateries, so when I told him it was a plus one invitation and would he like to join me … we are like a couple of cats that had got the cream!

So off we popped earlier this week …

Walking back to happiness  …

I’ve rediscovered my love for walking and seen as I’ve stated several times [ on here] that this is the year I’m getting fit it couldn’t have come at a better time.

I’ve been  heading for Damflask Reservoir which can be found at Lower Bradfield, conveniently only a 5 minute drive from mine.

A little history if I may …

Damflask reservoir was constructed in 1867. It has a capacity of 1,123 million gallons and a maximum depth of 88 feet. [ though it’s very low at the moment ] Today it is also used by Sheffield rowing and sailing club and for fishing. Good trout I here.

It’s beautiful,my thinking place…  Continue reading

Kats Kitchen with Pete Hewitt

As 46 year olds go I’m a bit crap.

I don’t adult very well.

When I was approached by BBC Radio Sheffield earlier this week to see if I’d like to take part in ‘Kats kitchen’ the first thing I did was think of every reason not too.

Don’t get me wrong I wanted to do it and I was chuffed we’d even been asked , but something inside me always rears its ugly head and tells me I’m not good enough. That I’ll mess up.

Lack of confidence has always held me back, something I’ve spoken about on here on numerous occasions and that drives my father and BF crazzzzy

I did however make a conscious decision at the beginning of this year that all that would stop in 2017.

This is the year I push myself out of my comfort zone.

Following a pet talk with the BF who told me to stop being pathetic, while also informing me that if I didn’t do it he’d be extremely disappointed; I said that yes we’d love to do it.

Can’t be disappointing the Mr could I… or more importantly myself.. and pathetic? How dare he?!

To be honest it’s not as though we had to do much. Sit and watch a professional chef cook several dishes and taste the goodies. Sounds like chuffing heaven…

There would however be some chit-chat with myself and Sue my ‘Ladies who Lunch’ companion which would involve speaking LIVE on radio, which is what made me a little anxious. Continue reading

2017 …

Good Morning!

I wasn’t going to post today. Firstly I have a raging hangover and I’m finding it hard to string a sentence together never mind write to my adoring masses ( hello all 3 of you) *chuckles to herself *

Secondly I was going to have a lazy day. I suppose I am having a lazy one of sorts … I’m in bed making my way through a mountain of Christmas cake, drinking copious amounts of coffee and catching up on Corrie.

Mum called to wish me and the Mr a Happy New Year…and “oh did I know Graham from the village had died suddenly yesterday afternoon – heart-attack ?” Not a celebrity but one of my brothers best friends, a well-known and much-loved  character. Continue reading

Party, Party into the New Year …

I’m not sure what the Mr and I are doing New Years Eve just. It’s been the same for the past few years. The majority of our friends have young children so they tend to stay in and welcome the new year in with them.

We’ll do something but it’ll be very last minute. We like to fly by the seat of our pants.

My friend Lisa has also mentioned meeting for casual afternoon drinks tomorrow to celebrate her birthday .Like me she’s a December baby. All our fun happens in one month!

Yesterday I had an hour to kill and thought I’d have a mess …(like you do) just in-case any of the afore-mentioned plans came into fruition. There was cleaning to be done but why clean when you can procrastinate hey?!
