Ladies that Lunch |Dine Sheffield …

Dine Sheffield 15th to 29th March 2018 – Celebrate dining in Sheffield with a fortnight of fantastic offers

It’s like music to my ears. You all know I’m happiest when I’m eating… and if you didn’t. I am.

Dine Sheffield is a flagship initiative for Sheffield BID’s Alive After Five strategy, which is helping to boost the economy by promoting a new early evening experience through retail, entertainment, food and drink.

Sounds good eh? …

From world cuisine to pub grub, café favourites and fine dining, some of Sheffield city centre’s favourite eateries have signed up to Dine Sheffield

With over 40 establishments getting involved there is surely something to cater for everyone’s palette.

‘The Ladies that Lunch’ [ Sue and I ] were given the opportunity to try one of the deals for ourselves.

We plumped for the ‘Two burgers for £15.00’ at The 8 Oz Burger Company . It’s a restaurant I’ve spotted a few times ; with its large glass frontage and warm glow resonating from within it looks inviting, somewhere I’d like to go. Plus I do love a good burger!

You know those voices I hear [occasionally] that whisper “try me, try me, you know you want too ” especially when I’m around cake they happen when I walk past here too.

So how do I find and book a deal ?

It’s a really simple concept .

You go onto the website http://www.dinesheffield.co.uk where you will find a list of ALL the restaurants taking part with details of the deal they are offering. Each restaurant has crafted bespoke offers, priced at £5, £10 or £15 each.

For example deals include :

  • Browns – 2 courses and a glass of wine for £15.00
  • Birdhouse Tea Bar and Kitchen – Sharing Dessert Platter and 2 Glasses of Prosecco for £15
  • Light Cinema – Waffle and a Hot Drink for £5

You choose the offer that takes your fancy; purchase and pay for it. You’ll then be sent a confirmation email which includes your voucher , which you down load.

You are then good to go.

You can either book a table or just show up at the venue to redeem your voucher . Dine Sheffield recommend booking and we did just that, you know to make sure…

It’s the way we roll.

The 8 Oz Burger Co

is situated on Leopold Street, next door to ‘All Bar One’ and opposite the Leopold Hotel / Leopold Square.

It’s warm and inviting with an open plan interior. Exposed brickwork and crates used for table tops and hung across the ceiling giving it an urban feel.

It’s like burger heaven and there’s a good choice of deliciousness to choose from.

I plumped for the ‘Macho Nacho ‘ burger mainly because I’m obsessed with guacamole and could quite happily munch away on it 24/7

It didn’t disappoint.

The combination of jalapeño, salsa sauce , guacamole and crunched up nachos alongside the burger was just delicious and very filling.

I washed it all down with a filter coffee while Sue went for a Ginger Beer and a Southern Stack Burger. Very tasty by all accounts.

It was very relaxed, service was prompt [our burgers came within minutes] and our lovely waitress Maria was attentive but didn’t get on our nerves asking if things were ok every two minutes. We like Maria.

There is a choice of desserts all priced at £4 each [not included with in the offer] but quite frankly we were both stuffed to busting. Those burgers are big!

It’s also worth noting there is vegan and gluten-free options of burger available, just ask the staff for details.

All in all we enjoyed our first visit, we had a very civilised lunch sat putting the worlds to right. .. mainly giggling about Bonkers Bingo we attended a few nights previous.

We will no doubt be back. Sue is already contemplating taking her 2 young grandsons.

Dine Sheffield is a great initiative and a fabulous chance for us Sheffielders and those close by to try out new places at reduced prices.

I’m all for supporting local business, I love Sheffield; its people, its character and its thriving food scene. I think it’s a great blinking idea.

What are you waiting for eh …

Just head over to the website // HERE find the offer[s] that tickles your fancy and the world , or rather Sheffield , is your oyster.

Until next time, Tracey x

I would recommend the Southern stack, a couple of pieces of fried chicken on the top and sweet potato fries as a side … yummy; I will be back
