Ladies that Lunch |Dine Sheffield …

Dine Sheffield 15th to 29th March 2018 – Celebrate dining in Sheffield with a fortnight of fantastic offers

It’s like music to my ears. You all know I’m happiest when I’m eating… and if you didn’t. I am.

Dine Sheffield is a flagship initiative for Sheffield BID’s Alive After Five strategy, which is helping to boost the economy by promoting a new early evening experience through retail, entertainment, food and drink.

Sounds good eh? …

From world cuisine to pub grub, café favourites and fine dining, some of Sheffield city centre’s favourite eateries have signed up to Dine Sheffield

With over 40 establishments getting involved there is surely something to cater for everyone’s palette.

‘The Ladies that Lunch’ [ Sue and I ] were given the opportunity to try one of the deals for ourselves.

We plumped for the ‘Two burgers for £15.00’ at The 8 Oz Burger Company . It’s a restaurant I’ve spotted a few times ; with its large glass frontage and warm glow resonating from within it looks inviting, somewhere I’d like to go. Plus I do love a good burger!

You know those voices I hear [occasionally] that whisper “try me, try me, you know you want too ” especially when I’m around cake they happen when I walk past here too.

Chunky Legs and Beautiful Burgers #ladieswholunch

The boyfriend told me earlier I had chunky legs.

Chunky flipping legs.

We are now not speaking. #worldwar3

I knew I had put a little weight on but the words chunky …. chunky and legs together were the wake-up call I needed.

Starting as of tomorrow I am dieting and working on getting fitter. This time I mean it.

Chunky legs – I’ll give him chunky bloody legs!

I don’t get it … I currently walk around Dam Flask once or twice a week with Mollie dog which is just under 4 miles the whole way around.

I figure my legs should therefore be looking skinnier not chunkier ! I’m gonna keep telling myself it’s muscle. I might even convince myself one day.

Chocolate and cake are my major weakness. I currently have the will power of a natt. A natt that’s due on her period and craving massive chocolate bars and carrot cake. With Mount Vesuvius about to erupt on my chin!

It’s a problem.

The BF has a sweet tooth, our fridge is always brimming over with his goodies.

Goodies that look at me and whisper ‘eat me … eat me … eat me’

I don’t take much persuading.

It’s a good job then that Sue & I decided to pay a visit to Gourmet Burger Kitchen last week [before the diet started]

We were invited down by the guys at GBK to sample the burgers;  words that make Tracey happy.

I love a burger …

Stone & Taps big reveal …

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

On Thursday evening Sue and I tootled across town to the Stone and Taps [former Swim Inn] at 217-231 Glossop Road, Sheffield to attend the launch night.

It has undergone a fabulous makeover and it is looking great. There’s a garden theme running throughout with flowers and pitch fencing. Its a lot brighter than previous and very welcoming. I love the bold logo.

It was opened by the Lady Mayoress of Sheffield. There was a band performing a selection of catchy tunes , while waiters and waitresses walked around offering us slices of pizza, dough balls and Goose Island beer [a hop lover’s dream with a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, and long hop finish.] I can recommend them all.

Apparently there were chips too …but no chips passed these lips.

Not a bad way to spend a Thursday evening all things considering.. Continue reading

Kelham island delights…Urban 1/4

I’ve often quite fancied myself as a Carrie Bradshaw type figure … Only I’d be floating around Sheffield, double her size with not such an exciting wardrobe and nanny hair, rather than her beautiful mane. Yep I’m still growing and falling out with my hair on a daily basis.

I’ve grown particularly fond of Kelham Island, the place where my Mr resides. I could imagine Miss Bradshaw here. I like the ‘feel’ – urban, industrial, busy but with non of the hustle and bustle, if that makes any sense? You can’t get parked for love nor money, but I suppose that adds to the fun… Or ruins your day dependent on your mood. That woman driving up and down, hot, bothered and cursing… Yep that will be me.

We’ve been frequenting a lovely newish bar / diner – The Urban 1/4 which is a stones throw away from his apartment, on Alma Street.

Keeping with the overall feel of the area, it’s got an industrial feel to it. Open and airy, with exposed ceiling joists, brickwork and concrete floors. Big chunky Chesterfield settees added for comfort.

Food, Goss, Beauty Boxes and Cows…@ The Kaye Arms

A good ol’ girly get together always involves food.  We were long overdue another ‘catch up’, photo shoot and blog post and this time The Kaye Arms, Grange Moor, Wakefield was our host. It has recently been refurbished and we wanted to check out both the new decor and the food.

Armed with what seemed like a dozen cameras and Liz’s daughter Naomi in tow to add a bit of colour to the evening, we set up our impromptu ‘camera club’ and ordered much needed food.

But not before a quick snap!!
