A ”Walkies…” a little fashion, lots of flowers and a dog

I have a new friend.

She’s got 4 chunky legs, her fur is chocolate brown [ THE exact colour I want my hair] She’s friendly, with sad eyes. She tends to slather and dribble when she gets excited .

Yes, you’ve guessed it … my new friend is a lovely little Labrador dog called Mollie. We’ve been taking a-lot of walks together. I’m getting heaps of fresh air and my skin is benefiting from big doses of vitamin D. Mollie is getting much needed exercise and letting off steam; she has so much energy! We chat… well I say chat. I talk and she looks at me quizzically, wagging her tail, then runs off to find a stick. We are quite literally bonding over poo bags among the bluebells!

If I’m honest I’m more of a cat lady myself but I’ve taken this little lady to my heart. She’s adorable… even when she’s dribbling.

We tend to take ourselves off to Grenoside Woods. I grew up a stone’s throw away from there and spent quite a lot of my childhood running around in the muck, climbing trees, flirting with boys and hunting devil worshippers! Children of Grenoside can you remember ‘scary tree’ the one near the road with the big red devil painted on it. We used to dare each other to run up and touch it!

It’s not as scary as I remember, not as dark or as dense. It’s actually very peaceful, a place to collect your thoughts. Mind you every now and again I still freak myself out. Am I being watched? It feels like I am. Do the trees have eyes? Out of nowhere a sudden gust of wind rips through the tree tops disrupting the birds who spill out, making us both jump. The Whispering woods what secrets do you hold? Images from ‘Evil Dead’ run through my mind. If I ever stumble across a log cabin I will be out of there quickly than you can say ‘get me out of here’. A childhood spent watching horror movies has most definitely messed with my head! At times like these I have a little word with myself and regain my composure, despite my heart pounding and my pace quickening.

Although not exactly dressed for trudging through mud, but armed with my camera I took a few pics today which I thought I’d share with you… image

Practical….hell No.

Stylish?

I’d like to think so!

Welcome to Grenoside village and woods… It’s a beautiful village on the outskirts of Sheffield.

The steel city is rather delightful in places. Grenoside is situated about 6/7 miles from the city center but feels like its in the middle of the countryside. One might say we have the best of both worlds.

Don’t you just love Blue-bells ? In places it looked like a living carpet of blueness …

I’m always on the look-out for new walks. Somewhere new for us to explore. Places to practice my photography.(I need a-lot more practice!)

We also favour a leisurely stroll around Dam Flask , Lower Bradfield, another beautiful part of Sheffield. I have a trip planned for later this week, hopefully when its not so wet and windy out there. Fingers (and paws) crossed.

Do you have any recommendations for new walks, I’d love to hear them?

Until next time , its goodbye from M and goodbye from me, we’ve got some more exploring to do… x
