Joe Browns Autumn / Winter 2016 Preview

Last night myself and Liz where reunited (and it felt so good) for the first time in a long, long while.

We had been invited and  made our way up-to Leeds to attend the Joe Browns Autumn / Winter Collection Preview 2016

I’m always a-bit nervous whenever I attend events / meet new people.

Liz …she was cool as a cucumber armed with her camera and keen to get taking some piccies!

I tend to ramble like a jibbering idiot and get a rash. It didn’t help that my BF told me I looked like a panda JUST as I was leaving the house . Too much Touche Eclat and a heavy hand with the old bronzer!! #makeupfail

I’ll not even mention my ‘DIY’ fringe …  (what a wonderful picture I’m painting)

I needn’t have been nervous as  Emily (PR & Social Media Manager) gave  both myself and Liz the warmest  welcome and made us feel at ease straight away. Plus the very first person we bumped into was Kelly ‘The Big Fashionista’ who I’ve never met before but follow on twitter and instagram. She is as friendly and bubbly a personality in reality as I had expected.

We were led upstairs, handed a glass of Prosecco each and told to make ourselves at home. To take a good look around, have a feel, take pics and try on any of the new Autumn / Winter 2016 collection.

We were in our element…

If you’ve not heard of Joe Browns before they offer a unique  range of  clothing for both men and women.

Bold, bright prints and intricate little details like fancy buttons and quirky detailing make it instantly recognisable.

They believe that everybody is unique and encourage free-thinking individual style. They are not ‘trend’ led and make clothes that people can buy, style themselves in their own way and wear over and over again.

So Lets introduce you the Autumn / Winter Collection which will be available to purchase from August 10th … Continue reading

Wildlife and Wardrobes …

Hello it’s been a while…

The house is finally coming together. Yay! While this is music to my ears  it’s also meant that it’s been pretty hectic with workmen EVERYWHERE trying to tie up loose ends.

Will these loose ends ever get tied, will they?!

It’s been noisey ( and very sweary  ) to say the least.  I’ve sat down a few times to write a post and given up after 5 minutes !

Hence the reason I’ve been quiet.

Here’s a sneaky peak…but just the one.

All I could hear was the banging of tools combined with some music courtesy of some non-descript ‘bang bang’ radio station and the c- word.

Lovely lads. Foul mouths.

I’ve not been too well for the past few days either  . Dodgey tummy and a headache that wouldn’t shift . Nice combination…

Woe is me !

Good news – I’m feeling slightly better today. So here I am. I’m all yours for the next hour or so. Continue reading

Everything for a fiver …

I do love a good bargain.

I also love ,love, love new clothes, shoes and accessories.

Since I started working part-time however I don’t have the money to be as frivolous.

Something had to give and I’m not quite ready to give up my love of avocado (I spend a small fortune on them but I’m hooked) and my girlie lunches!

I try to recycle my old clothes on eBay. I figure it’s a good way to buy new gear.

Old for new … Or in some cases old for even older !

I recently discovered French label BA&SH and while I love the whole range of outfits , at an average price of €200 it’s probably somewhere I could never realistically shop on a regular basis.

But I can look and look I do.

Take this top …

It’s perfect.

It comes in Cream and Navy, lace-knit , 3/4 length sleeves and high neck. It’s all there. I’m not so keen on the price tag of €305 . I just couldn’t justify it at the moment.

Maybe for the one off, as a surprise from the BF or maybe to treat myself.

I stumbled across the website Everything 5 Pounds while looking for a leopard print maxi dress (with the face on because I couldn’t afford all the deliciousness on BA&SH)  Continue reading

The end … Marbella Diaries

So as with most good things they come and go far too quickly for my liking.

I had been looking forward to my weekend in Marbella with the ladies for what seemed like forever and it was over in a flash … just like that !

So how did we spend our last day?

Having not really left the villa during the day to explore , we decided today was the day we would venture out to Orange Square in Marbella’s Old Town.

I had heard reports it was amazing and very beautiful.

Having only had a few hours sleep, hung over but feeling surprisingly chirpy , 6 of the 10 booked taxis for 11.00am.

We had strict instructions from Leigh ( who decided to have a lazy day around the pool) that we had to be back at 5.00pm.

We had no idea why but promised we would be.

Old Town Marbella was approximately a 20 minute taxi drive from the villa and cost €24 (about £20.00) which between a few of you doesn’t break the bank.

By golly was it worth it  … when we eventually found her.

Head upwards towards the mountains , not towards the sea like we did initially !

Marbella Diaries – Day 2

One by one we  started re-surfacing from our beds. We made our way down to the terrace in various states of ‘bed-head’ to enjoy our breakfast alfresco.

Isn’t that one of the best things you can do …eat and drink in the sunshine, without fear of sudden rain?

I love England but the weather … crikey it’s enough to make you want to pack your bags and never come back. Could do better!

Oh and I officially make THE best coffee ( if I say so myself)

Marbella Diary Day 1 – the villa and first night out.

Hola,

Somebody once said that “the best therapy is time spent laughing with great friends” I’ve just had 4 days ‘therapy’ and it’s done me the world of good.

By golly have we laughed…

and then some.

We’ve partied (a lot) and for want of a better word I’m back home and I’m bloody knackered. Rolling in at 6 in the morning was bad enough in my twenties,  at 45 it’s a killer but worth the tired, fuzzy head.

As my mum often says …”your a long time dead. Why sleep when you can dance?”

Why not indeed mum….

So what was the occasion?

We flew out to Spain  to join Leigh in celebrating her 50th . This was actually back in May (little details – long story)

We booked a plush villa in the hills above Marbella for the weekend so we could all be together.

Let me introduce you to our home for 4 luxurious days … Continue reading
