Hey how are you all ?
I had this idea; seeing as I love my music I thought it might be fun to compile my favourite 50 songs to celebrate 50 years on the planet . Its a few days late but whose counting [ hopefully nobody as at the last count there were 52 songs !]
I have a few firm favourites , I am sure most people wouldn’t be surprised to see Blondie , Fleetwood Mac or David Bowie on there … but the others were harder to pick. I’d forgotten how many good tunes there are out there. I’ve uhmmed and arrhhhed, chopped and changed and wittled it down to these 50.
If I’d have had a big 50th celebration party. If I’d had a night out even [ bloody tier 3 life] these are the tunes I would have wanted to be listening to, dancing to, cavorting too at some point during the night … I did manage a sing and a dance on my birthday but let’s be honest partying with friends is much more fun! Mollie Dog as much as I love her can’t quite master the air guitar !
Let me know what you think . They are listed in no particular order but I am starting with my absolute favourite .

I’m sure I’ll have missed some corkers off, but I have really enjoyed compiling and putting it together. [Somebody mentioned putting it on Spotify but I’m a techno phob and wouldn’t know where to start !]
Listening to some of these songs I’ve been transported right back to my childhood; Sunday afternoons snuggled up, full to the brim of Sunday Roast on the settee next to my mum. We would listen to Country music with my Grandma who sat in the posh chair – like the queen – and sang along. Sadly both wonderful ladies are no longer with us …
To the school disco and my arkward teenage years. To coming home, feeling sorry for myself when the boy I ‘fancied’ didn’t feel the same way [ again ] – I would stick some Alexander on and cry myself to sleep . I recall this happened quite a lot!
To Isabella’s and Josephine’s the legendary Sheffield nightclubs where I have had some of the best and most drunken , lary , fun nights of my life .
To memories of various girls holidays and weekends away. Always so many stories …but what goes on tour stays on tour .
To happy, happy memories of dance offs in the kitchen with my Mum and my brother.
I could go on …
I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again … I’m like a broken record … but music makes everything better . Music says things in a way like no other, it evokes memories and precious moments .
I couldn’t live without it, how about you?
Tracey x
Hi Tracey, I’ve just come across you on Twitter and followed.
5 minutes in and I’m addicted. I love your style, your blogs and your tunes.
You really speak to me and for me and the best of all we are both from Sheffield.
So glad I found you and your musings. Please keep it up.
Thankyiu do much that’s made my day ! Xc
Nicely done! I need to make a list like this to school my teen daughters on music 1970-2010.
Great list! I agree with the Spotify suggestion!
Where is Billy Ocean!
He was on there but got chopped near the end. ‘Red Light’ would have been on there had I had 10 more x
Brilliantly written and all great tunes, you do need to do a spotify list!
I’ll maybe try and do one. People keep telling me it’s not too hard ?! Thanks for popping across and commenting x
Get them on Spotify! Great songs on your list – looks a lot like my Spotify car playlist! love to hear my 11 & 12 year old singing along to songs I listened to when I was their age ♥️
That’s great isn’t it. I’m bias but I swear music was better ‘ back in the day ‘
Thankyou for popping across and taking the time to comment x
Oh you definitely should put together a playlist on Spotify, Tracey. What a great list!
