The best thing about Friday definitely has to be meeting up with the girls for what has become our weekly ‘Ladies that Lunch’ . Ok , ok so we are hardly girls but old biddies doesn’t quite cut the mustard.
Sue choose the venue today . She plumped on Brocco on the Park which is situated at 92 Brocco Bank at the bottom of Ecclesall Road. (Eccy Road to us Sheffielders.)
Brocco is a Boutique Hotel with a restaurant. They refer to it as a neighbourhood kitchen. I like that, it sounds friendly, homely and welcoming.
I’ve dined here before with mum. It was to celebrate her ‘6 month with no cancer’ results. My treat for her kissing cancer’s ass.
I’ve only ever been here for drinks with Sue and Rebecca. Prosecco and nibbles, very civilised loveies .
The positives first .
The interior is amazing. I want to live here.
It’s immaculately clean and spacious, with lots of nice touches… fresh flowers, bird cages and candles. I’m always wowed.
On a negative (it’s only a little one) the menu could have been slightly more varied . In my opinion its a little on the ‘fancy side’ and it could do with something for want of a better word – plainer.
Oh … and I had to ask for butter to go on my bread. I don’t do bread without butter. Does anybody? Like I said no biggy and our waiter sorted it out for me with no problems.

Beautiful Interior

The ever-so stylish Reception area.

Love these candles…it’s the little touches that make the biggest impression.

Flowers that make you go wow… and ill-placed lamp shades that make you giggle.
The spring menu and free iced water on arrival. A nice touch.
The coffees were good and came complete with 2 mini eggs…
Yay to anything mini egg related. Along with ‘Freddie Frogs’ these are my ultimate guilty pleasure.
I must remember that in 4 months I am going to Marbella. Repeats to self in 4 months I go to Marbella!

The chips were amazing. Proper chips …chunky and tasty.

The cheesecake (from the specials board) was delicious and the sorbet was very tart ( we all pulled a not very attractive ohhhhhh face, followed by a ‘but isn’t it lovely’ grin. oh so moreish. Please sir can I have some more….No have you forgotten your off to Marbella in 4 months!

Dessert came in the form of cheesecake with sorbet and 3 spoons – to share – £6.50
The verdict.
It’s a beautiful venue and the foods really good. The prices are reasonable and there’s a lovely laid back feel to the place.
Like I mentioned earlier the only thing I would change maybe is the menu. I would personally make it slightly more varied.. But that’s me and a little niggle of mine. The only way to find out if it suits you is to go and pay a visit for yourself – I highly recommend it.
A word of advice (cause I’m nice like that) – It can get busy especially at lunch-time, therefore it would be advisable to book a table if possible. Telephone : 0114 266 1233
We reserved our’ table for 3 ‘ and put it this way if we hadn’t we wouldn’t have been eating there today !
We saw a couple of people get turned away today.
All in all a lovely afternoon , spent catching up with friends in a stunning location..
eating…
we like eating…
and laughing
Oh we adore laughing
AND Mini eggs…yes, yes , yes I know I go away in 4 months!
As we say around these parts …its all gravy.
Until next time, Tracey x

Sue strikes a pose….
Love Brocco! Particularly in the summer when I do my daily dog walk through the park. I can avoid the park cafe and the rabbles of children , and dog and I can sit outside this little calm oasis with a good coffee. Though La Coppola (Oakbrook rd) is my preferred stop for coffee at other times
Sorry for the late reply, yes it’s a gorgeous setting. Let’s hope for some good weather . I’ve never new to La Coppola one to try I think x
