Today we ventured to New Era Square , Sheffield – dubbed Sheffield’s Chinese Quarter.
To be honest I only had a vague idea where it was, but we managed to find it ok. More luck than anything.
It is situated on St Mary’s Gate [ see map below]. We parked at the pay and display on the road outside the Aldi at the bottom of London Road . It was then just a 2 minute walk.

I specifically wanted to try the Scandinavian-styled coffee shop LYKKE that is situated there. My friend Fiona had posted some photos on Instagram a few weeks ago following her first visit. I decided it was my kind of place.
Our intention was to head out early so we could grab some breakfast. We were disappointed to find out that the kitchen at LYKKE doesn’t start serving food until 11.00am. Note to self – check the details before you venture somewhere new – doh!
Just a coffee it was then, despite both being starving .
It did take quite a while for our coffee to arrive; it was a good cup of coffee though and luckily we were not in a rush.

The interiors are delicious.
It’s bright and airy with high ceilings and lots of exposed industrial metal work. Faux fur throws adorn the various chairs. There’s an array of foliage and striking light fittings. It’s visually a delight.

I have no doubt we will be back again shortly to experience the food and try one , or two, of the cocktails ! I’ve already chosen which one I want to sample.
