S L E E P • mask by Dr Harris

When Current Body approached me after I had expressed an interest on an Instagram post that featured the Dr Harris Sleep Mask to kindly ask whether I would like to try it and give an honest review. I snapped their hands off .

In my excitement I temporarily forgot that anything on or around my face can trigger a panic attack. This started after I had an MRI scan many, many years ago; the one where they discovered I had Cataplexy. I hated it and it scarred me for life. I can remember having a facial a little afterwards and freaking out when the therapist put an LED mask over my face, turned the lights off and walked out. I couldn’t breath, started panicking and when she heard me shouting she ran in and had to remove it.

You can imagine how my first night using the sleep mask went!

First things first. I was sent the mask to try it to see how it helped with my sleep; if at all. I am not that wrinkly around my eyes / forehead so this is not something I’m overly concerned with but if it helps – bonus . Sleep however is something I krave. Oh to have a full, uninterrupted 8 hours. A girl can dream. I’m sure having a full night’s sleep would make me look and feel 5 years younger overnight!

Apparently the sleep mask helps you to relax and relieves any tension. It softens any lines for up-to 5 hours and it can help with sleep.

How it works • taken from Current Body website. It explains how it works better than I ever could.

Lines and wrinkles are formed by muscle contractions that happen underneath your skin – it’s been scientifically proven. These muscle contractions form two types of wrinkles – static and dynamic. Dynamic wrinkles are temporary lines formed by expressions, like when you frown or smile. Static wrinkles are more permanent lines.

Using 2R Technology™ (muscle relaxation and emotional relaxation), the Dr. Harris Anti-Wrinkle Sleep Mask targets dynamic wrinkles, using carefully placed silicone dots to stimulate mechanoreceptors – tiny little nerve endings in your face.

Once this starts to happen, it then involves your autonomic nervous system (your rest and digest system), which helps to relax the body – in particular, muscle tone and emotional relaxation.

Since this is an eye mask, that effect is localised right where you want it – those pesky brow furrows. Plus, while the mask gets to work on delivering a fresher, more youthful appearance, you’ll also experience mind and body relaxation.

I do recall the first few nights using the mask.

I found the strap that ensures the mask doesn’t move a little too tight for me [ I obviously have a large head] . It was soft against the skin but the first time I wore it I felt like I was suffocating. I managed the recommended 15 minutes but to be quite frank I was glad to take it off. I guess scan trauma combined with not used to wearing a sleep mask contributed – I was however determined to conquer my fears and each night for the following weeks I did the same; 15 minutes every night and I actually started to relax and find it enjoyable.

It has been 5 weeks now and I have eventually found myself relaxing and not panicking so much – I still have my moments. I have even fallen asleep wearing it on a couple of occasions. This is progress. I still haven’t managed to wear it for a full night yet, but it is great for relaxing my over active mind.

I still do not achieve a full 8 hours sleep but for someone who has had very disturbed sleep for the past few years I am currently only waking once in the night. I find I fall back to sleep more or less straight away something that didn’t happen before I started using the mask. Something is working. Regards wrinkle reduction I haven’t noticed that my lines look anymore softened but like I stated earlier they are not very prominent and I haven’t been overly examining them.

How to use •

Put on the anti-ageing sleep mask with the strap surrounding your ear.

Press one finger firmly over the relaxation point between your eyebrows.

Hold for 5 seconds.

Release and lean back, allowing the mask to work for at least 15 minutes.

For longer-lasting results, wear as a sleep mask overnight.

The Dr Harris Sleep Mask retails at £89.99 and is available exclusively from Current Body // HERE

If you can afford it; you are after a natural anti-wrinkle solution [ albeit temporary and something I have not really noticed for myself ] that also assists with sleep quality then I say go for it. For me the pleasure of enjoying better sleep is enough in itself and as far as I’m concerned is worth its weight in gold.

I love the sound of this Tracey. I wear a sleep mask (more so once my sleep has been disturbed) so think it might be a good product for me. I’ll pop it onto my ever growing Christmas list 😉

Thanks for popping across . I’m just about getting used to wearing the mask now. I’ll not lie it did freak me out at first. My Christmas list is as long as my arm too, I’m blaming Instagram ! Have a lovely day x
