I was looking through my wardrobe the other day and noted there are several staples that I am missing.
A black maxi skirt for one; something I can just throw on. Black would be ideal as it goes with most things, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be black. I have loads of jumpers and pretty little tops that are crying out to be worn with something other than my jeans.
I’m not feeling my jeans at the moment and its not because I ate too much over Christmas either. As regular readers will be aware I did a sponsored ‘No cake, chocolate or mince pies’ for the whole duration of December. I swear I’m the only person who actually lost weight over the Christmas holidays and is officially sick of the sight of bananas…. I raised £500 for The Eve Appeal. Win win.
So back to Maxi skirts I’ve been having a quick ganzy , in-between drinking copious amounts of coffee and trying to make sense of ‘Pretty Little Liars’ .
I’m currently on Season 3 of 7! I’m seriously hooked however I also don’t have much patience [ it does drag on slightly at times ] so I’ve googled who A [the baddie] is. This has confused me a lot more than ever BUT I’m sticking with it for various reasons – the music, fashion but mainly Ezra Fitz. My gosh my English teacher never looked that good. #hottie
I’m digressing again aren’t I!!
So here are a few maxi’s that caught my eye….
And Other Stories – £69.00
The gold lurex stripe that runs through this skirt gives it some interesting detail and makes it slightly more dressy. I love the tiers, they remind me of a FAB lolly. I’m not sure why but I love FABs.
It would look great with knee high boots during the winter and in the summer with strappy sandals. The same principal can be applied to most of the skirts I’ve picked.
ASOS Paper Bag Waist Black Maxi – £18.00 [limited sizes available – UK 8 & 14 only]
ASOS Tall Tulle Spot Maxi Skirt – £65.00 [above]
This is a beauty of a skirt but something I’d probably leave for evenings out; though saying that why the hell not wear it during the day with a polo neck and killer heeled boots. Add a simple black fitted jacket and your good to go.
ASOS Colour Block Maxi Scuba Skirt – £45.00
La Redoute Le Brand Boutique Collection Fergie Plain Velour Maxi Skirt – £85.00
BHS Pannelled Full Maxi Skirt – £16.00 available in black & navy also
Top Shop Flower Print Wrap Skirt – £29.00
I’m thinking more along the signs of spring here. Worn with a simple white vest, sandals , or trainers and tanned legs. It would look great dressed up or down.
Very Smock Detail Maxi Skirt – £20.00 [ limited sizes – UK 8, 10 & 12 only]
And lastly … definitely one for the beach but one I thought I would include for any lucky so-so’s that are thinking of going on holiday shortly.
Take me with you! It’s perfect for breezy days in hot climates.

I am a massive fan of the maxi skirt, hence the search for more to add to my wardrobe . I especially like to wear them during the colder months with a polo neck , boots and a trench for a 70’s feel, as below.
The stripey maxi from BHS is definitely one of my favourite finds from last year. Yes I was unaware they where still going too. A lovely, very stylish lady I follow on instagram @nataliejayne_semmens tipped me off [ and the rest of IG ]
BHS are only available on line and are definitely worth a look.
BHS Striped Maxi – £25.00 [ only size 14 available]
This skirt is really versatile and more like a midi on me if I’m honest as I’m fairly tall. For a more bohemian look I’ve worn it with a denim jacket below.
In the summer months I will wear it with a vest top, tan sandals and throw a denim shirt over. The shirt could be taken off if it gets too hot or pulled back on if its gets too cool.
I’ve a feeling the maxi skirt will become a firm favourite in my wardrobe this year…
