It’s getting closer …can you feel it , can you , can you? Christmas is only a few weeks away . I am getting rather excited. Today’s post is all about a skincare range that would make a great pressie for yourself or one of your extra special friends.
Have you heard of Samaya Skincare? I hadn’t until a couple of months ago but after trailing 2 of their products for the last couple of weeks I can report back .
Walk this way… (or skip if like me your a giddy kipper!)
The first thing I was asked to do before any products were sent out to me was work out my Dosha. Without getting too complicated because if your like me you like to keep things simple … dosha is the name given to the energies that govern every individual. There are primarily three types of dosha: Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
Ayurveda is based on the belief that in order to achieve and maintain balance, we should pay attention to our lifestyle as a whole. To do this, we must first establish our dosha type. Discovering your dosha type will help you to select the best SAMAYA skincare routine for you.
I took the test which only took a matter of minutes and consisted of various questions regards skin type and general lifestyle . The results stated that I was 40% Pitta, 40% Kapha and 20% Vata.
PITTA – Well-proportioned and compact build, with a focused mind and a love of order. Confident and passionate, enjoying challenges. Prone to anger and impatience when out of balance. Benefits from gentle skincare as skin can be sensitive and irritable, susceptible to wrinkles, sunburn and inflammation
KAPHA – Laidback and easy-going with a stable, steady energy level. Often has a strong physical frame but can be lethargic or apathetic if out of balance. Takes a relaxed, reasonable approach to life and can be compassionate, gentle and kind. Skin is usually thick and pale, can be radiant and glowing, but with clogged pores or excess oil when out of balance.
Yes I can see aspects of myself in both of those …
I was very kindly sent:
- Kapha Hydrating Cleanser – £69.00 (100ml)
- Pitta Anti -aging Cream £89.00 (50ml)
The Negatives first … (because lets be honest, we don’t like them and want to get them out of the way)
The products aren’t cheap and I’m not sure it would be within everybody’s price range – hence a great present!
I would describe my skin as oily, combination with a tendency to get spots around my chin and jawline especially around my period. I am not wrinkly which is one of the only positive of having greasy skin. I have some scarring and discolouration from acne in my early 20’s.
The Kapha Cleanser unfortunately brought me out in a heap of spots on my chin and around my nose when I first started using it. I went back to my original cleanser and hit the spot cream like it had gone out of fashion until my skin settled down.
Deciding that everything deserves a second chance I started using it again a few times a week but as a second cleanse.
For me personally the Kapha cleanser doesn’t give me that super clean feeling that I as a greasy, spotty person crave for but it is great as a second cleanse a few times a week. It’s a very luxurious product and the smell as you wash is divine.
I am always keen to point out that skin is a very individual and personal matter; just because my skin didn’t like it on first use doesn’t make it a bad product. It just didn’t suit me. Your skin may love it!
The Positives:
The packaging is simple and understated yet very stylish
Both products smell divine.
Applying the Pitta Anti-aging Moisturiser is a beautiful sensory experience.
The scent lingers on your skin for quite a while. It’s a calming, comforting and happy scent that reminds me of the smell as you walk into a spa. If something could smell healthy this would be it.
It’s a very light cream which sinks into the skin beautifully, creates a great base for makeup and it didn’t irate my skin.
Key ingredients: Jasmine Flower Extra, Lotus Seed Extract, Ribose, Neem Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Gotu Kola Oil, Saffron Extract, Shatavari Extract & Vitamin E
They also do a facial oil that I would be very keen to try . I love my facial oils…
To discover your dosha and for further information // HERE You will also find instructions of a beautiful Ayurvedic facial massage you can carry out on yourself.
Having recently had my first professional massage (45 years too late) I can say that I am totally hooked.
I’ve undertaken it a few times and can confirm it is blissful. It takes less than 5 minutes and will leave you feeling stress free.
Go, go ,go!
Until next time, Tracey x
