Cheer up Tea at Jameson’s … because cake makes everything better !

It started out as any Friday morning does? Your sat watching Insidious with the fella. He loves a good horror and insists I watch them with him . I see a sleepless weekend  ahead for me.

I found out yesterday that my lovely friend Sue had lost her job through redundancy. I messaged her to call me if she fancied meeting up today, I was after-all free having had my hours reduced to just 2 days a week! Right on queue ( I was hid shrieking behind a cushion at the time) she rang. Phew. I made my quick escape, leaving D with his demons!

Looking especially lovely … dressed like a baglady, with a slightly red face from my 4th derma roll on Wednesday evening I made the short journey across town to Sue’s. Following a big ‘you’ll be o.k’ hug we were making our way to Jamesons Cafe and Tea rooms, on Abbeydale Road. We figured that when the chips were down – cake was the answer.

Abbeydale Road is a hive of multi -cultural  shops and bang in the middle of it all sits this quaint little tea shop. We managed to find a table for 2, it was extremely busy, and plonked ourselves down.

Accompanied by a guy playing the piano – Sue ordered black coffee and I went for a pot of Earl Grey. It was all very civilised.

After mulling over the menu we decided against cake…

Sue ordered ‘Jacks Delicate’ Quiche from the special’s board – seasoned with figs, creamy brie and crunchy crushed walnuts, served with coleslaw and salad. I went for Eggs Benedict. Both went down a treat – simple yet delicious.

Stuffed …we decided to buy cake and take it home with us to devour later.  The choice was amazing and we were faced with a barrage of deliciousness. I’ve had worse decisions to make !

While our lovely waiter Dexter sorted out our cakes we headed for the gift shop located at the back of the cafe. Like a mag-pie I’m drawn to anything blingy and shiny.

Jameson’s is a great little find and we are already making plans to return with the rest of the girls. We ‘d like to give the Traditional Cream Tea a whirl.

Having had a taste of fine food, vintage jewellery and retro furniture , Sue suggested that we continue our mooching just around the corner at the Antiques Centre and the Sheffield Antiques Emporium on Clyde Road.

We tried on House coats, shrugs and every hat we stumbled upon…

We could have stayed there for a whole lot longer ‘lost in vintage’, ‘reminicising with retro’ but we had to make our excuse’s as Sue had another appointment at 5.00pm. Ever the popular lady!

Armed with our little doggy bags, a Rupert Bear annual purchased by Sue and still giggling we made our ways back home.

I’d say it’s just what the doctor ordered.

Until next time, Tracey x
