Style | Proskins … like a second skin

Happy Saturday Lovelies,

I thought I’d talk to you today about some leggings I was gifted before Christmas from the brand Proskins.

Your probably thinking why send them to me? I’m hardly ‘Zola chuffing Budd’ … however in my defence I do walk Mollie [ my beautiful dog] once or twice a day and these are perfect for doing just that.

I also whitter on to anybody and everybody that will listen about starting some form of Yoga. Yoga will happen at some point during 2018. Promise.

Couch to 5k might even happen … but I’m making no promises on that one!

I think that makes me more than qualified to test them out, don’t you?

So first off the pair of Proskins leggings I was gifted are the Plain Black Slim Classic Leggings – £49.95

Health |Let’s talk about ‘Our Maureen’…

Our Maureen.

I have so much to say on this subject that I don’t even know where to start. It’s so important, so close to my heart.

This isn’t sponsored, I’ve not been asked to write it and I didn’t get it sent to me free in the post!

It’s for my Mum and every other woman who went through / or is going through what she did. It’s to raise awareness.

So I’ll start with Maureen  …

Who is she?

Maureen [drumroll …] is what I call my vagina , other wise commonly referred too as your muff / tuppence / fanny / pussy / me-me / Mary or Fairy … long story short on a drunken holiday , during a drunken conversation with ‘the girls’ it got christened. Oh how we laughed. Continue reading

Celebrating real people #keepingitreal – meets Karen

I’ve been friends with Karen, like forever…

We met at nursery school when we were both 3 years old and we’ve been best of friends ever since.

That’s 42 fun-filled years!

Crikey.

On the French Exchange with school. (basically we lived with a French family for a week then they came over here and lived with us for a week ) I think we are about 14/15 years old  … and below on the same holiday but this time on the beach.

Karen is on the right of the picture. I’m the one on the left that you could mistake for Kevin bloody Keegan. Look at my hair …

But look at those bikini bottoms, my love for leopard print started young.  Continue reading

Sunday waffles …

After a horrendous hangover earlier I’ve finally come around and I’m in a great mood.

It’s only taken me the majority of the day! Just in time for ‘Britains Got Talent’ the live shows.

I’ve got Justin Timberlakes new tune ‘Can’t stop the feeling‘  on repeat. I challenge you to play this and not feel compelled to dance. I grab a banana and pretend its a microphone but that’s not necessary. It’s just fun.

It’s a bloody corker of a tune! Continue reading

This weeks favs and a fitness update …

This post is brought to you by aching limbs – legs, arms and oh my back  … Basically an aching body!

Saturday’s Boot Camp has almost … but not quite finished me off.

My bodies no doubt in shock …what with the ‘Pretty Muddy’ 5k (that’s 3 and a bit miles!) that I ran a couple of weeks ago and then this!

For the past few days I’ve been walking around in what can only be described as  ‘crab-fashion’.

I get some form of relief when I lay down and stretch. I’m talking really stretching.  It feels wonderful.

I’ve been laying down a lot… and stretching.

Despite my body feeling like it’s been through the mill and I’ve  discovered muscles I never knew I had…I actually enjoyed it.

Yes I did just say that!

The 45 minute workout consisted of a series of repetitive exercise. Squats, side lunges , bench presses etc. We did each one for a minute then moved into the next, before resting and then starting the routine all over again.

It doesn’t sound very tasking but it blinking was. I was flaking towards the end but managed to complete the session.

I intend to do a mini work-out once or twice a week using the same exercises plus a few of my own. The great thing is I can do them while I’m watching the telly!

I recon my body will just about be good to go for the next session this Saturday!

As for my diet … well I’m trying to eat healthy but it’s not going so well.

I’m starting each day with a healthy (ish) banana smoothie – banana, Alpro yoghurt, honey, small dolap of peanut butter, a collagen shot , a cod liver oil tablet and a dash of milk – but after that it’s been going slightly pear-shaped.

This has kind of been happening a lot  …

I am cutting down mind, if only slightly. I’ve had no cake or chocolate for days. This may sound like no great feat  … but it is for me. Continue reading

Tracey gets fit …an introduction to why?

Today I thought I’d update you on a few things… mainly my health and fitness.

Do you remember a few months ago ( Nov -flipping-ember to be precise!) I had some sleep tests undertaken for my cataplexy?

cataplexy // ˈkatəˌplɛksi/

a medical condition in which strong emotion or laughter causes a person to suffer sudden physical collapse though remaining conscious.

It’s been 10 years since I was initially diagnosed with the condition.

I currently manage it quite ok but I was wondering whether there had been any progress in medical science so to speak. Continue reading

Celebrating real people – Meet Sue #keepingitreal series

I was introduced to Sue by Karen, a mutual friend.

The first time I met her she was laughing and gyrating around a pole, her audience a gang of fire-men from London, who were up here for a few days.

We were in Josephines nightclub.

It was a Monday night. Monday nights in Josephine’s were legendary. Sheffield people will testify to this. Monday was our Saturday despite it being a school night.

Albeit alittle intimidated I liked her fun personality and I knew instantly that Sue and I would be friends and 15 years on we still are.

We’ve been on lots of girlie holidays and had many a drunken night out. She’s been there through the ups and downs. My marriage and my subsequent divorce. We’ve seen lots of new arrivals – friends babies not ours!

I’d say our relationship is stronger than ever.

I forget sometimes that Sue is 62; nearer my mums age than mine. Mother, grandmother and great friend. Sue is a prime example of somebody that lives life to the full. She looks fabulous and has the energy of somebody half her age.

As I said in my previous post she’s our very own Peter Pan!

I’d love you to meet her and find out how she manages it all ! There’s no air brushing or a filter in sight…

Let’s go!

Can I pass something by you… what is beauty to you?

What is beauty to you?

How do you feel about aging?

Are you planning to grow old gracefully or give it a run for its money?

image

Over the next few weeks I’m going to do a sequence of posts in regards to beauty. We often read about what celebrities use in.their beauty routine and their thoughts on aging . I’m going to talk to ‘real’ people who have a limited budget and get their thoughts on what beauty is to them.

By real I’m talking about the people you meet in everyday life. Your work colleagues, your neighbour, best friend… I’m not saying celebrity’s aren’t real, of course they are. They are also very unattainable; let’s be honest the likes of you and I aren’t very likely to ever meet any. Celebrities look great (mostly) and in my humble opinion so they should. Celebrities, TV personalities, soap stars, however you wish to class them… the people we read about in our magazines. They can most-likely afford to have the best procedures undertaken and buy/use the best products on the market if they wish.

It might not be so easy for the rest of us. I’m currently saving for a blinking moisturiser!
