Clearing the clutter… My wardrobe over haul

My friend Sue has put me to shame and has recently had a de-clutter getting rid of over half her wardrobe. When we met up last week she enthused about how good it felt to get rid of the old to make way for the new.

She has ‘cleansed’ her wardrobe and it was genuinely making her happy?

Alien to me…

I’m a hoarder.

I chuck nothing!

I always fear I’ll regret it and that said items will suddenly come back ‘in’ and have their day. My yellow shoes are testament to this!! Continue reading

And just like that…

Another beauty of a top just pops out of the page at me…

Green Lace Blouse // £29.99

Of course it’s ordered.

It’s green, it’s lacy and it’s going to be mine. (I feel like I should end that sentence with “wha ha ha ha “)

I gave up on the green sequin dress along time ago…it obviously wasn’t to be. It’s not like I’d even seen anything – it existed only in my imagination.

But green lace? Now we are talking.

I also have my eye on this beauty, also from H & M

Crepe Blouse // £24.99

And this one…

Blouse with Lace trim // £24.99

Oh and this…

H&M are coming up trumps and have some great shirts and blouses in at the moment.

I find blouses are so versatile , they look great with jeans, pleather leggings and skirts…basically with most things…maybe not your jogging bottoms mind. Though never one to say never…I bet there’s somebody somewhere rocking that look.

I have to say that the store at Meadowhall (Sheffield) is a bit of a ‘miss mash’ and I prefer to shop on line.

My mum walks around there tutting, examining and telling anybody that’s listening that the clothes could do with a good iron. (she does have a point, some do look like they’ve been screwed up and are in need of a good press )

So anyway, I’m digressing… back to yesterday. At one point I had over 4 tops in my basket but I had to narrow it down to just the 1.

I’m not that flush unfortunately!

Green it was then. I have green eyes, that’s enough excuse to buy a new top I’d say. Plus I also love me some lace.

I just hope it fits?!

I’ve ordered size 12 which I would normally be. However I fear that what with the mince pie fetish I had over Christmas combined with my current obsession of mini eggs and Freddie bloody Frogs it might not fit.

Dam you chocolate (why do I love you so much) and where the hell did you go Miss will power?!

I’m hoping the up and coming holiday with the girls might kick start something. It’s not until the end of June but we’ve just booked a long weekend in Marbella to celebrate Leighs – one of my oldest and dearest friends – 50th.

There are 10 of us Yorkshire ladies winging our way across … maybe 13.. . Marbella you have been warned.

Here we are over 10 years ago!!!

I love this photo, it evokes such great memories (and some not so great…about an hour after this was taken I was sick in a plant pot bang outside a bar!)

Leigh is the very brown one (she insists on orange) at the end…making the rest of us look positively lily like.

While I realise I am not fat (I just pull fun at myself) I do want to tone up. It currently feels as though my bum enters a room ( wobbling) a good 5 minutes after the rest of me… and in all seriousness my mince pie belly is starting to resemble a baby bump.

God forbid!!

I’m currently toying with the idea of Slim Fast. Has anybody used it before, would you recommend !? I know it’s lazy, but sometimes lazy is good… right?

I’m also started doing the towel workout, which involves a towel (obviously) that you must keep taunt at all times and lots of squatting. It’s playing havoc with my knee…

It also involves alot of… ‘Get down Mollie”, “Stop it Mollie”, “MOLLIE!” as our dog decides every time I squat it’s the ideal time to jump all over me, nearly flooring me as she tries to get my towel.

I am seriously hampered at times.

As a last resort I have seen this gorgeous Kurt Geiger snake-skin swimming costume…

Swimsuit // £55.00

I love it.

It’s not cheap but it’s going to be my inspiration to get fit / tone up ( she says currently munching on a massive cookie. Whoops )

I keep trying to envisage myself sat at the pool, sipping on a ‘sex on the beach’, reading ‘love x style x life’ and wearing this…only I keep reverting to a bloody whale…

Whales donning Snake skin was never a nice image!

So in other news…

Yesterday was the Mister and I’s first anniversary together . Yay – one whole year, and what a year its been.

We’ve actually been friends for over 23 years.

He came to my wedding. He was a shoulder to cry on when all ‘men were bastards’ and over the years we have many a time got drunk into the early hours on ‘firecrackers’

He moved away, we stayed in touch via Face book. He came back. We met up and the rest they say is history…

Yes all that time he was right there in-front of me!! Who would have thought!

In true ‘our’ style we decided to make it as cheesy and as naff as we possibly could.

Bring on the red plastic heart-shaped cups, heart confetti, heart chocolates, PESKY mini eggs and a bottle of Spumante Brut…which was surprisingly nice.

I’ve always been a cheap date.

I’m now going to love and leave you. I’ve rambled on enough…  I have a bath and major pamper planned in my beautiful new bathroom (and then some yellow shoes to source.)

It’s finished and I love it.

What do you think?

Until next time, Tracey x

Autumn Walks …

I bloody love Autumn. It’s my favourite season. The colours as the trees and foilage change from green to burnt orange and reds. Crisp sunny mornings.Indian summers. Beautiful.

I embrace Halloween. Despite not having any children I still like to get into the swing of things and for as many years as I can remember I’ve always bought myself a little pumpkin. I spend time carving out a face and proudly sit him on the stone hearth, admiring my handy work. I tend to light him for about 5 minutes each evening before he starts to freak me out. What can I say, I’m easily spooked. I blow him out, and face him away from me. I’ve even been known to hide him away in a cupboard, so he can’t ‘look’ at me. It’s the same routine every year.

The anticipation of Christmas and all the festivities get me as giddy as a 4 year old. Roast chestnuts, mulled wine and as the nights start to draw in, coffee with Baileys in front of a roaring fire.Bliss.

Oh and let’s not forget the clothes! Autumn fashion, like the season, is definately my favourite.

This morning was glorious. I woke up all singing and dancing, full of the joys of spring autumn.

I set off with the best intentions; breakfast in bed. Let’s just say it didn’t go according to plan. Coffee and a Kit-kat later we decided to take Mollie (the Mr’s dog) for a long walk. We are lucky as there are some beautiful little walks a stones throw from our house.

Although I’d love to be-able to buy a whole new wardrobe every season, this is just not possible – finances just won’t stretch. Luckily there are those staple items in your wardrobe that never date and you can bring out year after year.

One of these is the navy roll neck sweater dress I decided to wear today. I bought mine from Next last year.

Next are selling similar again this year. Click HERE // HERE

I decided to wear it with my recent (and much featured on IG) purchase from H&M, The gorgeous faux suede jacket, that’s practically attached to my back and my new Dune knee length boots… that are practically attached to my feet!

Winter sunshine, albeit lovely, is sometimes not the warmest. I’m alittle, make that very nesh so wrapped up with another ‘fav’ – my navy and burnt orange scarf with tassles from good old Marks and Spencer’s. Again bought last year.

Boots from Dune HERE with 20% off today. Grrrrrrrrrrr I always miss a bargain!

The walk was lovely and apart from Mollie dragging and pulling me to the ground – I’ve got 2 grazed knees, a cut hand and bruised ego to prove it – everything else went smoothly. I won’t mention the Mr forgetting the poo bags and him having to pick Mollies ‘mess’ up with a crisp packet. Ekkkk.

Mollie did what she loves best. Had a swim. I swear she’s half dog, half otter! Its funny how you can grow attached to a little ball of chocolate fur. I was always a cat lady with no time for dogs. That was until I met Mollie. She is adorable.

The Mr and I both got some much needed fresh air and exercise.

He also got to practise his photography skills taking the pics, of me, for this post. He hates it, I test his patience. I on the other hand felt abit like a prize plonker striking my ‘catalogue poses’ while little old ladies and fellow dog-walkers looked on bemused.

We topped the walk off with rosy cheeks… and a coffee. All in all a rather lovely morning.

NFD – That 70’s show….

Afternoon Ladies,

Let’s skate back to the 1970’s when fashion was just fabulous!…

Don’t you just love fashion at the moment? It is right up my street. I love the 70’s influence. I can’t get enough double-denim, flares, fringing and anything suede. For a girl born in 1970 and who grew up wanting to be a ‘Charlies Angel’ it’s a dream come true. I’m no spring chicken but this look works for all ages. You just have to adjust your hem lengths accordingly.

Here’s a pick of some recent, and some not so recent purchases I’ve made. Continue reading
