Do you ever look though a magazine or swipe through Instagram and see something you HAVE to have.
That’s a silly question … of course you do.
I do it a lot actually but I don’t necessarily act on my instincts. Mainly because I’m always skint and very fickle; my urges move on quickly.
One item I did see. One that wouldn’t stop playing on my mind was a yellow jacket from JD Williams new season collection. It looked at me and whispered “you try and walk away… buy me, buy me“
I had some birthday money left and as I didn’t think the price was bad at all [£50.00] I only bloody ordered it. It felt satisfying, because basically it was.
I had hoped it would be as fabulous in the flesh as it looked on paper. I had my fingers crossed that I wouldn’t look too much like ‘Big Bird’ from Sesame Street in it … I mean at 5ft 10 it’s a worry.
So here she is in all her glory…
and how it appears on the website Fluted Long Line Jacket – £50.00
The colour, length , the fastenings and those sleeves are just darling.
I knew I loved it because I wore it the very next day . I figure if you ‘ummm and arrh‘ and aren’t eager to wear it then perhaps it’s not for you.
I wore it with a navy top and my jeans, but I’m already concocting other outfits – Capri pants and little flats a’la Audrey [ Hepburn] for one. Little fitted dress and kitten heels another.
Earlier in the week I ordered a navy spotted and striped scarf from eBay for a mere £3 including postage. It arrived today. Yellow and navy look fabulous together. I just love this.
Less Big Bird … more Air Hostess.
I LOVE yellow accompanied with grey , navy , turquoise , purple and even pink. Colours you might not necessarily think of putting together. Fashion should be fun and I’m all for experimenting.
Feeling suitably inspired …?
Here are some other ideas on how to style a yellow Jacket [courtesy of Pinterest] I love the simplicity of a pair of jeans, plain top and a vibrant yellow jacket with some fabulous accessories. As shown beautifully below.
And here are some other yellow / mustard jackets that have caught my eye from the high street…
River Island Belted Duster Coat – £68.00
Nasty Gal Duster Waterfall Coat – Reduced to £14.83
La Redoute Fitted Jacket – £53.40 to £62.30 really love this
Boohoo Phoebe Belted Faux Fur Jacket – £50.00
And accessories ….
Marni Spotted scarf – from £240.00
All these scarves would look amazing with yellow . Its a shame they are so expensive! I’m sure you will find similar [ just maybe not quite as nice] on ebay or Debop if you are prepared to look.
Rockins Leopards Teeth Skinny Scarf – £96.37
Diane Von Furstenberg Scarf – £130.00
Turquoise and yellow are amazing together as are these earrings.
Dori Csengeri Earrings – £125.00
Miss Selfridge Pom Tassell Earrings – £12.99
Much more in my price range [above and below ]. I always find Primark have a good selection of jewellery for next to nothing too.
Matalan Purple Tassle Earring – £6.50
Toolally Pear Drop Earrings – £45.00
Are you a fan of yellow, or is it a colour you stray away from?
If you do [love it] how do you wear yours?
As always I’d like to know. I LOVE talking , so please talk away…
Until next time, Tracey x
