Discover Sheffield … #StayDifferent

We live in Sheffield, we write about things we see here. What else is there to write about – Alex Turner, Arctic Monkeys

It may seem strange to anybody looking in that I got invited to spend the night at St Paul’s, Mecure Hotel and Spa in Sheffield.

Why you may ask ?…

Well basically because I live in the steel city. Apart from a 2 year stint in Lincoln it’s always been home.

I did question why I’d been invited myself but as I often get asked where to stay in Sheffield AND as I am a massive advocate of the beautiful city I thought it was an ideal opportunity.

What better way to recommend a hotel than to have stayed there yourself .

What better way to promote a city than to see it through ‘first timers’ eyes…

So I said yes … if it was still ok with them then I’d love to take up their generous offer.

So that’s what I did last Friday night along with a group of bloggers from around the country. Continue reading

Tracey at BAFTA

On Monday evening the Mr and I donned our finest and made our way to BAFTA in the heart of London for a charity ‘do’ to raise funds for The Variety Club.

An evening spent in the company of Sir Roger Moore KBE and Monty Norman who was celebrating his 88th birthday. Monty Norman singer, composer and writer,  who amongst many other things wrote the James Bond theme tune.

Your probably thinking (like me) how the bloody hell did she get an invite! I’d be thinking the same …. Common little strumpet from Sheffield mixing with the higher-archy.

Ha ha I jest , Mikes lovely friends Penny and Alan Invited us . They both do a hell of a lot of work for Variety raising money to buy Sunshine Buses… And Penny thought I’d love to meet a real life James Bond.

Of bloody course I would!! Continue reading

When Tracey met Silversmiths and all for a great cause…

If you’ve never met Sue;  for one your missing out and secondly she has more friends than anybody else I’ve ever met. Seriously… She’s like the United Nations with a little bit of Judith Charmers thrown in for good measure ; because like Ms Charmers Sue also gets about abit !

So Monday night by invitation of the above, myself ,Karen and a little gang of Sues Friends some whom I’d met before & some who I hadn’t, made our way to Silversmiths in Sheffield to attend their annual Action Duchenne Charity Event. It didn’t take much persuading on my part; a six-course meal with all the proceeds going to the charity. They say a way to a man’s heart is via his stomach… well the same applies to me. You want me to love you hard – then feed me! I love my food.

This is the second ‘Annual Action Duchenne Charity Event’ that Silver Smiths have held. All proceeds raised on the evening will be going direct to Action Duchenne a national charity, which provides support and much needed research into finding a cure. Last year they raised over £2,500.00 and are hoping to top that this year. Continue reading
