BEAUTY | first impressions of the British Beauty Box

*AD – this post contains gifted items. No payment has been received.

Hey up lovelies,

I’ve not written one of these posts for a while … in fact the last one I wrote was for a couple of purchases I made from Trinny of London at the beginning of last year . So today I thought I’d rectify that and give you my first impressions of The British Beauty Box which I received a few days ago.

Just to warn you this post maybe tinged with Rocky Horror Picture Show narratives as my fabulous BF secured tickets last night for me and a couple of friends to go andsee it at The Lyceum Theatre in a few weeks time. Whoop whoop. [Refer to my previous blog post and you’ll understand my excitement !] Even my dog Mollie is answering to Sweet Transvestite or Frank n Furta!

So anyway back to beauty –

Please remember this is an initial thoughts only post. I’ll review seperate products in future posts when I’ve had a chance to use them for a few months.

The British Beauty Box is on its 2nd edition and is delivered to your door every 3 months so you will receive 4 boxes a year. There are different payment options:

  • Monthly – Pay £25.00 per month
  • Quarterly – Pay £50.00 every 3 months
  • Annually – Pay a one time payment of £175.00

You will receive 5 full-size products in each beauty box . That’s an amazing saving when you consider the  contents are worth over £200.00 [based on RRP.]

My box arrived in a sturdy, glossy box with a pink, grey and white Union Jack on the front. It was a lot larger than I had envisaged and thinking ahead it will be perfect for storage.

You receive 5 Premium Brand products in each box [as above] .

This months brands include Windle, ARK Skincare, Emma Hardie, Beauty Kitchen and Manuka Doctor. No wishy-washy brands and sample sizes here!

In this box we also received an additional couple of products a serum from BYBI and another product from the Beauty Kitchen.

So let’s have a look at the content in more detail :

ARK – Skin Perfector De-Stress Serum 30ml – £45.00

I was super excited to receive this as ARK Skincare has been on my radar for a while.

My friend Katie swears by it and she has a beautiful complexion. I love the fact it’s not tested on animals , it’s paraben free, vegan friendly and made in Britain. Lots of big thumbs up from me.

They say:

This highly protective , antioxidant rich serum acts as a second skin to defend against harmful free radicals and finishes the look of fatigue caused by environmentalism lifestyle stress.

Key ingredients:

Antioxidant complex, Bisabolol, Grapeseed oil and Vitamin E

WINDLE Ultra Nourishing Masque 200ml – £34.00

Who doesn’t love a good hair mask . I say good … I’ve not actually tested it yet so I maybe being a little presumptuous.

I do like the sturdy pot and the simplicity of the black and white design. Perfect in my minimalist bathroom. It can be used once a week as an intensive hair mask or left on for a couple of minutes for daily conditioning.

They say:

Gives ultra softness and glamour to dry, damaged and colour treated hair. A combination of super charged amino acid and lipid technologies intelligently condition and help strengthen the hair.

Key ingredients:

White tea infused with active antioxidants. Tahitian Monoi Oil, Babassu and Baobab oils. Gluten free.

EMMA HARDIE Midas Touch Revitalising Eye Serum 15ml – £49.00

Wow … Emma Hardie is a premium skincare brand that I never envisaged I would receive in a beauty box. Major plus points.

I’ve used a couple of their products in the past and been very impressed. The Moringa cleanser is just amazing.

I have been using this eye serum for the past couple of days. I’m extremely dry around my eyes and feel this serum is not as moisturising as my regular eye cream. I’ll keep you updated and report back when it’s had a fair crack of the whip.

They say:

A lightweight eye serum that lifts and tightens the eye contour area, fades dark circles and reduces puffiness.

Contains Beautifeye technology to strengthen and lift the eye area, blur fine lines and fade dark circles

Key ingredients:

Rich in Omegas 3, 6 and 9, Inca Inchi and Raspberry Seed Oil.

MANUKA DOCTOR Illusionist Rapid Lift Mask 40ml – £30.00

Another brand I’m familiar with but I have never had the pleasure to use. It promises plumped and firmer skin in just 10 minutes.

Ohhh we like the sound of that …

I’ve done my usual ‘sniff test’; it’s got quite a strong, over-powering perfumery smell, but I’ll not let that put me off. It’s got Friday Pamper night written all over it.

They say:

Clinically proven to reduce wrinkles in just 15 minutes. Smoothies skin and evens skin tone after just one application. Visibly enhances skins radiance . Helps reduce the look of pores to create an even looking complexion.

Key ingredients:

Manuka Honey and Purified Bee Venom [ PBV ]

BEAUTY KITCHEN set of 4 products –

High Definition Facial Oil, Everlasting Radiance Cleansing Gel, 5 Minute Miracle Mask & Everlasting Radiance Moisturiser.

I was so giddy to receive this pack of 4 products . I’ve spotted it a few times in my local Holland & Barrett and have almost bought it on several occasions.

I’ve been using the cleanser & moisturiser morning and evening for the past few days and so far I’m really enjoying using them. They smell so good and I love the fact the ingredients are 100% natural.

Groovy ! [ sorry Rocky Horror made me say that ! ]

They say :

You won’t find any synthetic fragrances , ingredients , parabens or surfaces in any of our products. We use only the very best ingredients that nature has to offer

Key ingredients :

100% natural

I’m sure you will agree that that is a lot of product for your money AND on top of that we also have 2 additional items to look at.

This month these are:

Beauty Kitchen Nateuline Lip Treatment – £2.99

Always handy to stick in your handbag. It looks like Vaselines twin-sister

As well as keeping my lips plump … I also use Vaseline as an overnight  conditioner for my eyelashes. Ill replace it with Nateuline over the  next few weeks and see how it compares.

BYBI Supercharge Serum 30ml – £32.00

This is a new brand / discovery for me, after having a ganzy at their  website I am liking what I see.

Another 100% natural product

They say:

We spent ages formulating Supercharge Serum in a bid to solve the classic serum dilemma – high potency and 100% natural but not thick and heavy. No water in the formula means you get the highest concentration of active botanicals, but we specifically [and painstakingly] sought out the 18 easiest absorbing oils with the highest levels of antioxidants m so its super powerful.

Key Ingredients:

Squalane, camellia, prickly pear, jasmine, watermelon and radish olds

There’s only so many products I can try at once so when the times right I’ll break this open and let you know my thoughts.

I can report that it is another delicious smelling product. I tried some on the back of my hand to see how it felt on my skin and I can’t stop sniffing myself

* * * * * * * *

So there you have it, the full contents of my First British Beauty Box and my first impressions. I am sure you’ll agree it is pretty fabulous value for money .There is a lot of skincare [ and a hair product] to go at which is probably why the boxes are spread out over 3 months.

If you like the look of and fancy trying the British Beauty Box for yourself by entering THE_NAUGHTYFORTYDIARIES at checkout you will receive a 10% discount and a premium skincare gift.

Whoop whoop …. lets do the time warp! // HERE

I will of course report back in a few months with my take on the products, the hits, the misses and the in-betweens!

But for now I’m off to go and pamper myself … well I have got enough products to play with !
