STYLE | new beginnings and chunky knitwear

September always feels like a new beginning … a chance to start over again .

Forget January 1st my new year starts on September 1st as the trees turn from shades of green to burnt oranges and reds, the nights draw in and we bask in the beautiful ambiance of candle light.

We wrap up in cosy over-size knit-wear complete with fluffy miss-matched socks and beanie hats. ‘Bag lady chic‘ I like to call it.

I’m in love with my new knit-wear from Woolovers.

How fabulous and vibrant is this oversized Rib Trim Turtle neck jumper in Sunset Pink. It’s enough to brighten up any dull days Autumn and Winter may throw at us. I love it with accents of leopard print.

It’s 90% merino, 10% cashmere, machine washable and it feels wonderful on.

My late Gran and I will be reunited once more in the form of a vintage faux leopard print jacket. When I wear it I feel like she’s with me and I’m not sure if it’s ‘ all in my head‘ but I always have the best times while I’m doing so. I always joke “I’m taking my Gran out tonight” My Gran was a larger than life character and loved a good time. It’s obviously a Herring trait as so did my mum. Gosh I miss them both so much.

My precious coat has seen better days with her ripped lining . She is coming loose at the seams but is as fabulous as ever and I could never bear to part with her. I’m slightly lose at the seams myself … maybe we are a perfect match

In Autumn we supp on endless frothy coffees laced with Bailey’s or in my case Baileys laced with coffee . That or a large Whisky and Green Ginger [ after all I am my mother’s daughter ]

I love a chunky knit. This 100% Pure Wool Aran Coatigan is the ideal transitional piece and at £59 it is a great price too .

I choose it in Pepper but it is also available in Flannel Grey and Black

Like everything I own it has to be a hard-worker in my wardrobe and it will look perfect with either jeans or maxi dresses with knee-high boots. It is reminiscent of a cream belted cardigan my Gran used to wear in the late 70’s with kick-ass flares and a tight polo neck.

I’m wearing medium as their sizing is quite generous. If in doubt size down.

Expect to see this on repeat …

I love summer but I absolutely adore autumn.

A time to reflect …

New beginnings …

A time to take stock , look forward and  excitedly make plans

To thrive in new conversation , new challenges, new adventures

To relax and revive in baths over-flowing with bubbles.

Summer 2018 you’ve been amazing but Autumn I welcome you with both arms wide open.

It’s been a while … but as always your worth waiting for 💗
