I’ve always looked after my skin. However getting a plague of acne in my early twenties [ I was a late starter ] sent me on the verge of obsessive.
The acne made me feel like an ugly buggy and on the very bad days I hid myself away. I’ve even be known to cancel days/nights out when I was feeling particularly horrendous.
Luckily I don’t have acne anymore but I have been left with some scarring, discolouration and I still get the odd breakout. It may sound daft but my life seems to have been ruled by my skin, my mood dependent on how ‘it’ decided to play that day.
This year, as I turn 47, I decided it was time to take charge & up the ante. As well as up-grading my skin care which has included having a nurse strength TCA peel, microdermabrasion and a hydra facial. I also believe it’s what you put into your body that affects your skin.
Perfect timing then that Absolute Collagen got in touch asking whether I’d like to trail their products for a couple of weeks.
Of course I said yes and my box of collagen arrived a couple of days later.
I love the bright packaging and like the girlie-girl I am was swooning over the cover models hair and eye-makeup. As Mum used to say ‘ fabulous, just fabulous’
Produced in the UK each sachet contains – Hydrolysed Marine Collagen [ 65%] fish, Water, Preserative: Citric Acid, Antioxidant, VitaminC, sweetener, Sucralose, Natural Lemon Flavouring.
Absolute Collagen contains 8000g of high-grade collagen, which has been infused with vitamin C, which works synergistically with fish collagen, otherwise known as Marine Collagen.

It also benefits bone density, muscle toning, joints, tendons, ligaments and cartilage. As well as assisting in muscle recovery, joint pain and even skin disorders such as adult acne, psoriasis and eczema.
It’s quite the worker !
You simply take one of the 10ml sachets, tear it open and take every morning. They are ideal if you are travelling as they can easily be stored and taken on the go.
I took mine orally direct into my mouth every morning. You can also pop the mixture into a mug of hot water if you prefer and drink it that way. They also suggest adding it to a yoghurt. I didn’t try this… but I’m thinking it would be rather nice.
Its a thick, golden liquid with a slightly sickly taste. It’s the consistency of honey which reminded me of a cough syrup. It does grow on you … but I still pull a face while taking it.
Whats not in it:
Its free from lactose, gluten and dairy. There are no artificial flavours, colours or added sugar
Results:
Results vary from person to person, with people noticing an improvement in their skin , hair and nails in anything from a few days to 6 weeks.
I received a 14-day supply and it’s hard to see any major improvement. Having said that my skin does feel very soft, plump and it definitely looks more hydrated around the eyes. Please bear in mind I have recently had a peel which may have contributed. But I have to say my skins looking the best it has in ages!
How much does it cost :
It’s £29.99 for a two week supply, which works out to around £2.14 per day.
They also offer a subscription service, where a box is delivered every other week with free delivery!
My Verdict :
I take vitamin tablets daily and while there’s no evidence they are doing anything I feel well, I’m not often ill and subconsciously like to think they are working.
I’d say the same applies with Absolute Collagen, if you can afford them what’s to lose? Its cheaper than a take-a-way coffee. For me £2 a day for good skin is worth it if your skin / appearance is one of your priorities.
Like I said earlier my skin is looking the best it has in a long while and I’d like to think Absolute Collagen has contributed in some way. I’d love to try them for a while longer to see results over a longer period of time. I’m considering ordering another batch 🙂
On a last note I had my skin professionally scanned yesterday . This machine is used in the medical profession to determine damage caused by sun, hydration levels etc. I’m happy to report my hydration levels were excellent and my actual skin age was showing at 42 – 5 years less than my actual age.
I’m obviously doing something right!
