Robin Hood, his Merry Men & Cricket…

Mainly to walk a hangover off , we took D’s kids Georgy and Eddie to watch the village cricket team play against  Doncaster.  Via a very long wilderness walk down through the woods, by the river we made our way to the ground. The kids got chance to play Robin Hood and run off some pent-up energy and D and I got lots of most-needed fresh air in our lungs and colour in our cheeks. I was advised I was Fryer Tuck. I’m not sure how to take that really! Then again D was Maid Marion….

I’ve lived in Oughtibridge for the past 13 years and I love village life but I’ve never been to watch the cricket! The ground is pretty impressive and in a lovely setting just minutes from our house.

We grabbed a chair on the pavilion, a glass of beer and settled down for the afternoon. It was all very English…

Look at the concentration on my face and yes before you ask, I do know the rules. I also know the off-side rules at football, my dad made sure of that ! There’s absolutely  nothing better than proving a guy wrong but relating it to them chapter and verse. I’ve done that many a time.

I’m going to go girly for a minute but I absolutely adore my new fancy pants from Primark a steal at £9! The nail polish I’m wearing is a fresh mint colour – 602 from L’Oreal. Looks great against tanned skin.

We had a great day … that was until the heavens opened.  We ran into the clubhouse and waited for the rain to stop. D and I snuck in another cheeky beer and the kids had some more  pop and crisps. So it wasn’t all bad. The rain however had no intention of stopping, getting heavier if anything.

Deciding between us that we couldn’t sit there all night , we ran outside into the downpour and giggling ran all the way up the hill towards home.

We arrived drenched but smiling; there’s something refreshingly childish about running around in the rain, not a care in the world…

I should do it more often.
