The Peacock, Sheffield

You know I love my food and if you don’t – I love my food. When I was approached to see if I would like to visit the above and do a review  I said yes without any hesitation.

First things first the location is an absolute dream. If you are unsure where it is – it’s about a 10 minute drive from the top end of Ecclesall Road South, Sheffield heading out towards Chatsworth . It has a large carpark so there is no problem parking .

The Peacock is situated by the side of the road , but it’s not an awfully busy road. You can sit back with your drink and take in the beautiful surroundings – or as I refer to it Gods Country . Maybe like me you will find yourself trying to count the cows in the field opposite . Regular readers , yes I still have a thing about cows !

We fell lucky with the weather and nestled into our sunspots at the front of the building.  When the sun shines in the UK there is nothing finer than ‘alfresco everything‘. I guess it’s so special because we don’t get to do it very often.

We went inside and ordered our meals at the bar along with a couple of drinks to supp while we waited for our food. The cheeky half is mine and it went down a treat. Sunshine and larger – perfect!

There is a vast choice of meals to choose from that cater for all tastes. We both decided on the Fillet Burger with Slow Cooked Beef Rib – £16.99 which came with chips and coleslaw.

I always fancy a burger when I’m eating outside;  maybe that’s the BBQ element coming to the forefront. I find it isn’t too heavy … or so we thought. The burger arrived in all it’s glory.  It was massive, the meat [ prime fillet and lots of it ]  cooked to perfection. We asked for medium. It was very tasty and filling.

Despite being full from our mains , we decided to have a dessert each ; there’s always room for something sweet!

Micheal chose the Sticky Toffee Pudding – £5.99 and I had the  Ice Cream & Sorbet – £4.79 … washed down with a Latte. The Toffee Pudding was delicious and you can never go wrong with ice cream.

The latte, and the ice cream both came with a warm cookie; it literally melted in your mouth.

Now we know where The Peacock is we will definitely be revisiting with my Dad who was supposed to come along today but typically went missing in action. It’s the ideal spot for lunching with friends / family.

Great food, relaxed atmosphere and great service [ from Luke and Todd today] Complete with beautiful views across the heather moorlands of the Peak District. If you are lucky you might spot some cows !
