On Thursday evening Sue and I tootled across town to the Stone and Taps [former Swim Inn] at 217-231 Glossop Road, Sheffield to attend the launch night.
It has undergone a fabulous makeover and it is looking great. There’s a garden theme running throughout with flowers and pitch fencing. Its a lot brighter than previous and very welcoming. I love the bold logo.
It was opened by the Lady Mayoress of Sheffield. There was a band performing a selection of catchy tunes , while waiters and waitresses walked around offering us slices of pizza, dough balls and Goose Island beer [a hop lover’s dream with a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, and long hop finish.] I can recommend them all.
Apparently there were chips too …but no chips passed these lips.
Not a bad way to spend a Thursday evening all things considering..
The Snug is exactly that [below] and is where I will be heading next time I visit. More of an intimate area and very cosy.
Ideal for first dates …not that I’ll be going on any first dates soon, I think the BF might have something to say about that!
There’s a new menu that sounds delicious
What do you fancy? …a pint, craft beer, cask ale, cocktail, a coffee, gourmet burger, stonebaked pizza, curly fries…they do them all.
Burgers start from £7.00 and come served in a brioche bun with gem lettuce, gherkin , tomatoe , burger sauce and a side of fries. You can even build your own burger
I had my eye on the nachos and the dirty chips look like heaven [but not very healthy!]
They are also selling Prosecco on tap, a genius idea, as sampled by Sue below.
The toilets are lovely , with a definite retro feel. Look at that beautiful beige chair.
I have a ‘thing’ about toilets and as a young child used to mark them out of ten. I’m sure I’ve shared this information with you all before but for me its an important factor … nobody wants to use a grotty smelly toilet do they?
Selfie Friendly … and look at that chocolate chaise longue
Lots of quirky touches like the toilet signage above… and more flowers.
It’s definitely somewhere I shall be visiting again and with such great deals on I urge you to try it out too:
- Monday – 2 burgers for £10.00
- Tuesday – 2 pizzas for £10.00
- Wednesday – More Burgers £4.00 [more burgers relates to classic burgers only] and add a Bud for £1.00
- All available between 5pm – 8pm
To keep up with current deals and for more information on up and coming events Stone and Taps can be found on Facebook @stoneandtapsheffield
Below : Sue mingling with the lovely Management Team … and one for the boys – lovely ladies [with the peachiest bums I’ve ever seen] on stilts.
Until next time, Tracey x
Apparently snce our visit they have opened a roof top bar , must go again x
It looks so good Tracey I can’t wait to go now I have seen that thanks for sharing X
Thanks Louise, I wish I’d taken more photos but my camera was playing up. Was so lovely to meet you afterwards at the second event [ have yet to write it up!] I could just eat some pizza too xx
