2017 …

Good Morning!

I wasn’t going to post today. Firstly I have a raging hangover and I’m finding it hard to string a sentence together never mind write to my adoring masses ( hello all 3 of you) *chuckles to herself *

Secondly I was going to have a lazy day. I suppose I am having a lazy one of sorts … I’m in bed making my way through a mountain of Christmas cake, drinking copious amounts of coffee and catching up on Corrie.

Mum called to wish me and the Mr a Happy New Year…and “oh did I know Graham from the village had died suddenly yesterday afternoon – heart-attack ?” Not a celebrity but one of my brothers best friends, a well-known and much-loved  character.

We didn’t quite see out 2016 without another sudden, unexpected  death. He’s not a celebrity but he’ll be sorely missed by a lot of people around here. I didn’t know him very well but he always took the time to say hello; it will be strange to not see him propping up the bar in our local.

I’m personally not one for making resolutions mainly because I break them within a few days ( sometimes hours) of making them . I then feel crap about it and mainly myself for having zero will power.

I am however determined to make the most of every day this year and not waste a minute of it. Yes they’ll be days like today when I may or may not even wash and I’ll stay in my pjs (Stig of the dump days I like to refer to them) but on the whole I intend to make this year count.

Because … ( without sounding melodramatic) who knows what’s around the corner?

My friend’s son posted on Facebook earlier…

Births, deaths, gains , losses  I’m glad for them all. It shows it’s only temporary . Be glad you woke up today and make it count’

Too bloody right. Thank-you Julian you are wise beyond your years.

That is this years mantra sorted.

Yes of course they’ll be days when I can’t be arsed and everything’s wrong . I’ll procrastinate ( old habits die-hard) I may even cry but I will allow myself a day off and not be too hard on myself.

I am after all only human.

The Mr may question me on this … he thinks I’m away with the fairies . He walked into the living room the other day to find me sat singing along to the Muppets word for word. It probably didn’t help that he caught me the previous day engrossed in Labyrinth doing exactly the same thing.

What can I say I like to lose myself occasionally… with puppets seemingly!

Anyway I’m digressing…do you make resolutions? What changes are you planning to make this year if any, please share in the comments below I would love to hear.

So tomorrow I’ll be back on it, proper… but for today it’s more cake and crappy TV. I don’t even intend to get dressed.

Despite loving fashion I realized earlier this is one of the reasons I’d never make a successful fashion blogger.

For one I’ve not really any idea what I’m doing and often resemble a bag-lady. At least I can claim its my ‘own style’. I’m forever skint and can’t afford to show-case new clothes all the time. I was also scrolling through my IG feed this morning and was welcomed by this bevy of beautifully presented ladies whisking their way effortlessly into New Years Day, looking fabulous.

However is that possible? If you could see my now….

Oh my. * Note to self must try harder*

I’ve quite a few reviews to write-up including a fabulous neck cream you need in your life. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some fabulous brands who’ve sent me some lovely products to try and I’ve met some truly awesome people via this blog.

I’m hoping for more of that this year. No make that ..there will be more of that this year!

Fashion, beauty , travel, ‘Ladies that Lunch’ and my random musings – the format will be same , just hopefully a little more professional looking. We have plans.

We would love to grow our readership so if you enjoy this little piece of the internet please spread the ‘Naughty Forty’ word.

I bloody love blogging, sharing my little corner of the world with you all. I’m hoping Liz may make a few guest appearances this year too. You may have noted she’s not been around that much.

For now I’m going to sign off…

Here’s wishing you a very happy , healthy and most importantly fun 2017. I want to bring fun back. I feel I’ve been far too serious a lately.

As one of my favourite bloggers always ends her posts ‘  love hard, love long, stay humble ‘ ... it never felt more relevant.

Until next time,

Tracey xx

Wow 2016 looks like a fun & fabulous year! I’m sorry about your loss. Life is very fragile & that quote is wise words to live by! We don’t know what will happen next. Waking up each morning & being grateful & making the most of the day sounds like the best New Year’s resolution I’ve heard yet! Thanks so much for joining us at #candidcuddles I hope you can pop over again sometime! x

I loved being part of your link up and will definitely be back ( if you’ll have me) … here’s hoping that 2017 is a good one – here’s to making the most of each day , Tracey x

I love that quote that your friend’s son posted on Facebook – it’s a good reminder that life is all too short and to try and make the most of whatever time you are given. So sorry to hear about your brother’s friend though. Hope 2017 will be a good year for you. #candidcuddles

I love this, made me laugh out loud and feel quite emotional too! It’s my first time over on your blog but I shall be reading more from now on! #CandidCuddles

Oh I loved this. I laughed in parts (cake in bed? seriously? brilliant) and felt rather wistful at that quote. It’s rather fab. I love when you see a new take on an old phrase (in this case life is short). And er…much as I giggled over the ‘all 3’ readers comment, I think if you’re working with those brands, you have a few more than 3 readers 🙂 Thanks SO much for joining #candidcuddles babe. You blooming star!
PS whose ‘love strong’ etc quote is that then? need to check that blogger out!

    • lizandtracey says:

Thankyou , and cake in bed – always .) I’ve just added the badge and I’m rather pleased with myself !
Thankyou also for inviting me and be thankful I didn’t mess it up! I love writing but technical I am not 🙂
The blogger in question is ‘whattheschu’ on Instagram ( not sure if the blog is the same name) but you’ll love her. She makes me giggle but is also an awesome writter. I’ll go tag you in one of her posts … night ,Tracey

Happy New Year to my favourite blogger. Love reading your posts and blogs for your musings as well as your fashion style. Like you I’m always skint so find it frustrating to read and follow other fashion bloggers who have something new and expensive to show almost everyday. though I do love most of what they show as they look beautiful. With your blog and posts it’s more realism and affordable fashion and yet still look amazing! I’m sorry you started the year off with bad news but hopefully 2017 will just get better and better for you. X

    • lizandtracey says:

Happy new year Rebecca and thankyou for your continued support. Your comments are too kind. The bad news was most unexpected. He’s only young and relatively fit. Just shows you, don’t take anything for granted. Regards fashion posts – I’ve gone from a well paid full time job to part time working … I bloody love fashion but just can’t afford to buy stuff constantly and I think it’s unrealistic to think we all can. I don’t even have a credit card. It’s cash or I don’t buy it. If you can afford it then fair play and I do love looking at all the outfits. It’s very inspiring. I’d just rather eat than get a new pair of shoes 🙂 thankyou again and may I take the opportunity to wish you a fabulous new year xx

A lovely post and nice reference to my most eloquent son.
I am honoured to be a ‘forever’ 40 something and accompany you when you need a stand in and your partner in crime as ‘ladies who lunch’
Was called a posh bird last night for drinking Prosecco in the Ball on Crookes!

So no man of my dreams from there then!
Looking forward to fun , new experiences and our sometimes belly laughs where we end up in tears.
Happy New Year to a great friend who is always there to listen! Love always x

    • lizandtracey says:

      Hey up Sue,
      I love Julian’s mantra!
I’m currrently researching new places to eat. I’m going to be more true to myself this year and let my wacky side show more, I feel like it’s taken a back seat while I try and deal
      With life !
Yay to belly laughs and finding ‘DERECK’
      Much love T xx

    • lizandtracey says:

Thankyou … my friend has a wise son. Feeling much more normal today … not so Stig like. On fishnet tight hunt today . Rock n roll … thanks for popping across xx

  7. Shelagh says:

    Hi Tracey
I have been following your blog for the past year or so and I love your honest, and very reflective, posts. I started following from a fashion link but, to be honest, I enjoy your other posts the most. That’s not to say to I don’t like your fashion posts, I do, but I think that you have a fabulous outlook on life and I can see why your friends and family love you. The warmth comes through your writing. I read quite a lot of blogs and yours is the first that I have commented on. The reason… because I think you deserve a huge thank you for just saying what lots of us are feeling, and ignore any bad posts. There are loads of us who are reading and enjoying!

    • lizandtracey says:

Shelagh, thankyou so much for your lovely comment . It’s actually made me so happy but also a little teary ( in a good way) . It’s good to know that somebody is reading & enjoying my little musings. If I’m honest they are my favourite posts to write too ( it’s like theraphy) but I worry nobody gets me. I’m glad you do.
Thankyou for commenting and I wish you a truly happy and magical new year. Tracey x
