Who ‘stole’ my (faux fur) heart ….

Stole – A woman’s long scarf or shawl, especially of fur or similar material, worn loosely over the shoulders.

Don’t you think there’s something rather lovely about a faux fur stole. Reminiscent of the 1950’s; an era when ladies looked super elegant and it was all about the glamour.

I do love a bit of full on glamour.

I rocked up today at work wearing mine (it was miserable outside, I thought what the heck let’s do this) with my Next pleather leggings, cashmere jumper and beige trench coat. My brother looked me up and down, smirked and just said “hey up… what have you come as today ?'”

Charming as ever. I’m not sure if that was good or bad, but he’s a man and what do they know!

Anyway I digress.

While a stole looks glamorous draped around your shoulders with a beautiful dress I think the look works as well, if not better, teamed over a t-shirt/polo neck, boyfriend jeans and a camouflage/leather jacket. It’s a mixture of dressy and not so dressy. Mixing it up, which I personally love.

Here’s my pick of some of the best stoles available at the moment.

First up a little beauty from New Look // HERE

And this Oasis number available from John Lewis – who I find always do fabulous accessories. I’m often found messing around trying on hats in there. I do love a hat but that’s for another post // HERE

A little on the expensive side at £189 is this stole from The White Company. It’s 100% Mongolian Sheepskin which is why I’m presuming it is so much? // HERE

Posh sheep = big wonga. Lovely but out of my league, unfortunately.

And finally here I am earlier today, wearing my own little beauty from River Island.

It’s a River Island special I bought a few years ago but is still going strong . It classy, keeps me warm without the swelter and when I wear it I feel just a little bit glam like my late grandma.

My gran was a fiery red-head who left us a few years ago. Despite her various ailments she was always well turned out. Never without her chunky clip on earrings, bright green eyeshadow, red lippy and her beloved fake faux.

She actually left me her prized (fake) leopard skin coat in her will. She knew how much I adored it.

That coat is older than me. When I wear it I feel all fuzzy, it’s like I’m taking Gran out with me. I always say that coat spells mischief and I’m sure she’d be looking down and nodding her approval.

Yep, us Herrings love a bit of faux fur…and mischief !

So in other news my kitchen flooded yesterday.

What a bloody Nightmare.

Long story short – it involved a dodgy tap, a dog called Mollie and me who was ‘away with the fairies’.

We were 2 inch deep in water and everything was soggy including my new slippers!! Oh and my 2 cats who insisted on rolling around on the damp floor.

As you can see my life is very rock n roll.

Today I’ve tried desperately and failed… to get my hands on a piece of Balmain x H&M. I wasn’t being greedy I only wanted this green shirt…

but all I got was a message stating the site was currently busy. When I eventually got on (some 6 hours later!) everything had sold out!

Pieces are already going on eBay for 3 and 4 times the RRP ….but don’t get me started on that ! Grrrrrr

Until next time, Tracey x

I’m going to link up (for the first time!!) to the lovely Catherine over at Not dressed as Lamb #iwillwearwhatilike link up.

I love faux fur stoles (only faux, NEVER real). I bought a sky blue one at Topshop last year, and have worn it to death; it goes with everything (surprisingly!).

(really entertaining blog! I just found you via RetroChicMama’s link to this post).

I’d never wear real either, ever. Sky blue sounds lovely, it’s one of my favourite colours. I’m so glad you visited… Please drop by again soon. Always good to hear that people have enjoyed the read. Thankyou, Tracey x

I am very against real fur as I am for animal rights so these faux fur are perfect for this season! I don’t understand why people buy real fur, you can get fake ones that looks just as good! xx Great post!
